The Atlanta Arts & Culture Weekly Review

Throughout history, societies and communities that embraced the arts often found themselves at the forefront of social and political change – decades ahead of those that have discouraged or diminished the role of the arts in their societies.  Our rich history of social and political progress is due in no small part to the active and courageous artistic community that calls Atlanta home. We hope that by highlighting the rising stars of our local art community on a weekly basis, we can help increase our community’s engagement with local art and the artists that devote their life to moving society forward.

🌟Good fortune🌟 A private painting workshop with a client. I’m so proud of her! And it’s only the first layer on the painting. This Affirmation Portrait is to inspire good fortune in her life. • The energy behind the good fortune she’d like to attract is coming from her heart chakra with a low color temperature so we chose a cool color scheme. The texture of the feeling felt rough to her so she added more visible texture to the canvas. 🌜Magical! • What feeling would you like to attract into your life right now? . . . . . #artislife #life #intuitivepainting #affirmationportrait #workshop #painting #paintingworkshop #feeling #artheals #affirmation #abstractpainting #abstractexpressionism #abstractart

Internally lit to celebrate both the people laid to rest here, and the uniquely beautiful cemetery environment 💡. Nothing could bring back the colours stolen from her heart… I see infinite space & illusions of time. A failing limitation in our perception, I am reminded of Plato, the allegory of the cave… we cannot know reality, we can only live through shadows breaking free bouncing from mere labels at best. Except this love… Speaks of the love that only contrast of my wishes could deliver. With unwavering integrity I kept true to my personal laws & for that I am delivered an unveiled world of true love & connection. I accept, no one will ever figure out the Rubik's cube that is the essence of me & all I have endured. But as I become the woman I have chosen to be, I see how powerful the expression of who I am really is. I will paint the world to show you parts of the whole, this will be enough to open doors for us. The grey scale of limitation of which we are taught to abide need not threaten as it's not 'all' there is… Ask more questions, choose to be bold & you will find the, 'you' that's left after all the limitations are met. You are the genius potential awaiting the decision to step out of tainted perceived ideas. Freedom takes discipline & you have the power to paint your world. By Elicia Ward 14th April 2018
