Hi LaShunda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Rooftop Shunda started during COVID – 19. I am a healthcare worker who was tired of sitting on the sidelines watching the Virus tear up my community. I wanted to do something so I accepted a position as an Essential Traveler Worker setting up COVID-19 Laboratories throughout the world. My assignment allowed me to travel to COVID-19 hot zones and work in a remote location for three weeks and then get redeployed somewhere else. So what started out as a mission to make an impact turned into a quest to get more out of life than clocking in and out for work. This is what started Rooftop Shunda’s Travel Lifestyle blog business that allows viewers to follow my travel, work, and play experiences from around the world.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The Pandemic has made traveling very difficult and as an Essential Worker Traveler, I have to take safety precautions like never before. On Day one, I plan for my airport arrival and departure accordingly. Each State/City has different protocols in place for mask and answering COVID-19 health questions. I have to think about my health and safety ten times more when I go into restaurants, visit museums, and take tours. I follow a strict protocol of keeping my nose and mouth covered with my mask, spraying my hotel room with disinfecting upon arrival and select seating in a restaurant with social distancing in mind. We are not traveling as usual!
We’ve been impressed with Rooftop Shunda, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Rooftop Shunda is a Solo lifestyle travel blog highlighting my travel, work, and play experiences from around the world. I enjoy taking my viewers on high-end adventures, sharing vlogs, conducting tours and travels abroad. I am known for taking you all the way to the Rooftop to the deep sea. My brand service offers lifestyle tours, tourism art & souvenirs from Coast to Coast.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes! COVID-19 and the COVID-19 lockdown has taught me that travel is indeed a luxury and life’s not meant to be lived in one place.
