Art & Life with Hakim Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hakim Wright.

Hakim, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
What started off as a hobby, quickly turned into an undeniable passion. Approximately five years ago, I purchased my first DSLR camera once I discovered that my point and shoot was just not producing the memories I suddenly developed a yearning to create. The more I shot, the more I recognized that this is what I was made to do!

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am an experienced Atlanta based freelance travel photographer with work that covers a vast variety of subject matters such as landscapes, sports, fashion, social events and more. The art of photography is a passion which I chase daily and work to improve on a continuous basis. It is my belief that photography is not merely a skill but art that allows me the opportunity to capture and display the world’s beauty one frame at a time. My work allows people to have the opportunity to relive a moment over and over each time they view my artwork.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
The greatest networking tool today is social media. This platform allows you to share ideas, get feedback, offer/get encouragement with so many fellow artists all across the world. It is an amazing way to connect, and I am so thankful for it.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have been privileged to cover events such as the 2013, 2015, and 2016 PGA Tour, The Atlanta-Caribbean Carnival, Caribana Toronto, Atlanta Fashion Mayhem, the 2014,2015 & 2016 NFL Pro Bowl and the Women’s Soccer International friendly match to name a few. My published works include The Peach Review online magazine, Le Reve magazine, It Girl magazine, Move Over Magazine-Kid’s Edition and Shining Faces children magazine.
