Art & Life with Nova Powers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nova Powers.

Nova, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I would say I was bound to become a creative. My Mother was a Singer and my Father was a Painter. My Mother comes from a gypsy-like upbringing. Thirty-two schools later, she meets my dad who comes from a much more Black Power, Militant lifestyle. These two separate and my journey begins, with music being my only solace.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I create the universe I want to be in. I’m a creator so anything I find myself good at or interested in is what Ill do. So far its been Music, Acting, Modeling, and Graphic design. At the end of the day, this gift of mine was always around. The same goes for everyone else. Its all a matter of how much time and effort you really put into studying yourself and your surroundings and of course, how well you can convey the message. I started making music because I felt I had no outlet to how I was feeling and what I was going through. Poetry tapped me into who I could become and I grew from there with the support of my teachers and friends. If it weren’t for the teachers that came, I’d be a different story I’m sure.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
Everybody has 30 minutes a day to create. If you are struggling with bills or barely making it, I challenge you to make a plan with what you have. Get Ready for what is to come. Although things may seem a distance away, it could be around the corner.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
You can find my work on Soundcloud under Nova Powers. You can support me by following my page at iamnovapowers on Instagram. My email is iamnovapowers@gmail.com for all other inquiries.
