Check Out Ju’Vette Cooper’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ju’Vette Cooper.

Hi Ju’Vette and Demetria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Greetings, we are two sisters who share the same Grandmother, which led us to bring a family tradition to fruition. We have lived in Atlanta and the surrounding area for over 25 years, both wives, Mothers, Aunties, Grandmother, Sisters, and many more titles. Our Grandmother’s tradition is what brings us here today.

Grandma’s Honey Stuff (GHS) is a raw honey-infused food made with fruits and vegetables. It is made with whole foods that’s safe for all ages over the age of one. It can be used as a dip, sweetener for tea, glaze for meats and/or fish, or taken however you like! The elements in this infusion are known to have healing powers. Therefore, this infusion was created with the intention to help heal my family’s ailments such as cough and congestion.

Inspired by our grandmother’s “home remedy”, my sister and I created Grandma’s Honey Stuff for our toddlers when they weren’t feeling well. We didn’t want to give them the typical over-the-counter cough medicine. An additional bonus: You can pronounce every ingredient in our product…which says a lot in these times. The incomprehensible ingredients and side effects were enough to cause us to seek a better method of healing. We needed something to help enhance their immune system and something that would knock it out the natural way.

So, with some tweaking of our grandmother’s undocumented recipe, we developed a product that may help the body even on a good day. For us, Grandma’s Honey Stuff is not only a specialty honey that can be used with other foods, but we use it daily. It contains the healing properties my body appreciates, I feel confident that when I take a spoonful, I’m taking the goodness of mother nature. You’re welcome to take Grandma’s Honey Stuff any way you like…just take it with good intentions.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have jobs, families and we breathe GHS infused honey. Many times we come up with ideas in the middle of the night and text each other our grandiose ideas. Creating our brand is amazing and we sometimes find ourselves up late nights and early mornings. If we don’t believe in our product, who will! When we first started this venture of being an entrepreneur, we didn’t quite know what was all involved. We thought to self, we have a fabulous product and it’s not on the market. Let’s bottle and sell it. Little did we know how much red tape was involved. We had to get it tested for microbial and test the shelf life. Once that was approved, we had to go through another dept to make sure the label met the guidelines and let me tell you that was no easy feat. We went back to the drawing board so many times, we almost threw in the towel. Finally, finally, we got the thumbs up and it was approved. The journey was not over yet, because to ensure no one could infringe on our copyrights we then had to apply to the USTPO. Money was tight, so we thought, how hard can it be to get our logo and name registered? Well, not so fast. We had to do some leg work but in the end, after several months we got an email congratulating us on the approval. YES, WE DID it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in educating our customers when we vend and sell our products. Our honey is a functional food acting as both a condiment and also a medicinal tool in ensuring health. We love interacting with our clients and learning as well as teaching. We are most proud of planting the seed of the idea and actually living the dream of being an entrepreneur. We pride ourselves in carrying our Grandma’s legacy. What sets us apart from others is a simple fact that we do it all: We do the manufacturing in a shared kitchen, bottling, labeling, marketing, and distribution. We believe in our product. Grandma’s Honey Stuff is handcrafted and made in small batches. We get so much joy hearing from customers when they try our product which is genuine and authentic. We are sometimes known as the honey ladies.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love our city because there are always events going on whether free or paid. We pride ourselves in popping up our tent and selling in Lithonia, Conyers, Atlanta and the nearby cities. The people who shop with us are always so happy so see some sistas selling health-conscious products and educating them on the products we sell. I love the fact that a lot of people who shop with us also look like us. There is nothing I don’t like about my city because love is shown wherever we are.
