Check Out Punkin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tandrea Sears.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all started as a young girl in my mother’s kitchen. It almost seems as if I was born with the gift and having a family full of females made it even easier. I was ALWAYS in someone’s head. By middle school, I was making money..just enough to make it to the skating rink lol. Of course, with practice comes perfect so by high school I had even more clientele. But what really did it was working out of my dorm while attending Albany State University! I was never the student that went to the clubs, I was in the dorm getting the girls ready for the club! That’s where I got serious and figured I need to take it all the way. I came up with the name Punkinsperfection, got a logo made, and since then it has been my baby! I’ve since launched a product line which consists of hair growth oil, shampoo, conditioner, and edge control!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not! I struggled with obtaining new clientele when relocating from Albany back to the Atlanta area. Being that I got serious with my business in Albany and lived in Albany 5 years after getting my degree, I had a lot of clients there. Leaving them and relocating to a city with 10x as many artists was rough, but let’s just say business has been great!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist. I use to do other styles, but now I specialize mainly in braids and soft locs. I am known for my flawless knotless braids and soft locs over locs. I am most proud of launching my product line being that it is something I’ve always wanted to do but procrastinated for so long. What sets me apart from others is my professionalism, punctuality, and personality. Most clients come in here and we kick it as if we’ve been knowing each other for years. First-time clients never feel like first-timers. I have the personality that draws people to me.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
My daughter has also been my greatest motivation! I finally launched my product line after having her so I give her the credit for that push! To have a flourishing business while being a mother of a toddler is a great accomplishment.
