Check Out Shanisha Watkins’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanisha Watkins.

Hi Shanisha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I recognized my gifts and talents at the early age of seven. I’d write songs creating my own melodies and have my sister sing background for me while I took the lead, LOL; I still have those songs in great memory! To be a famous singer and songwriter was my ultimate goal in life, and besides, when you grow up in a family of singers and on the church choir Sunday through Saturday, I knew I was destined to be just that!

At the age of 12, I featured on my cousin Big Tank’s debut album ‘The Wicked Eyed Wildcat,’ which was released in store, and received my first credits as a singer and songwriter. That was definitely a moment for me, but I never knew how big that was until I became fully knowledgeable and experienced in the music industry. Where I’m from, Winnsboro, SC, opportunities were slim to none, so education was top priority! If I really wanted to make my dreams come true with music, I needed a full ride to college.

I was accepted into HBCU, South Carolina State University where I studied a double major, Biology and Chemistry, on a full scholarship; though only for a semester. I decided to join the United States Air Force where I served eight honorable years of active duty service in Security Forces; highest rank being Staff Sergeant (E-5). I’m a three time, two war veteran having served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The military provided me a network, opportunities, and benefits that really changed my life and still today. After separation from the military, I decided to enroll at The Art Institute of Atlanta where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Audio Production becoming a professional audio engineer. This was my chance to finally do what truly makes me happy and be amongst like-minded individuals.

While attending, I decided to start my own business, Syndicate Outfit Uplifting Lives Music Group, LLC, an audio company that works with the technical aspects of sound during the processes of recording, editing, and mixing of in-studio and on-location performances; also providing services such as artist development. I’m an innovative audio engineer and artist specializing in Vocal Recording, Sound Design, Post-Production, and Production Sound. During the course of my journey, I’ve had the honor of working alongside Oscar Award-winning Filmmaker Tery Wilson, Grammy Award Winning Songwriter and Singer Johnta Austin, Grammy Award-winning Audio Engineer Karl Heilbron, 3X Grammy Nominated Singer Angie Stone, 2X Emmy and Grammy Nominated Producer French Spencer, Filmmaker Chazitear Martin, R&B Artists Sammie, Ssypp, Miss Honey Simone, Music Producers Stickemupkidbeats, Dynasty Digital, and so many more!

Dreams do come true! Every goal I’ve set has been accomplished and achieved! No, I’m not famous, but I’m living in my purpose, doing what I love to do…I’m happy! Think it, Plan it…Execute!!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What’s a story without a struggle? Obstacles, challenges…you can’t live a life without lessons/experiences. My mother was a single parent, I lost my father at the age of 14…serving in our military was a challenge in itself making that ultimate sacrifice. But, to get through I had to find the happy, the funny, the good in those very moments, turning those negatives into positives. For every problem there’s a solution, and I get to determine that. All of what I’ve been through in life has made me the woman I am today. I’m ready for whatever other obstacles, challenges may come my way. I have an incredible support system, PLUS, I know who God IS!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m also known as Luciid Soul considering myself to be a Neo Soul/Alternative R&B artist. I released my debut single ‘In Love’ ft Yo2Xs (produced by Kevin Touw) in October 2017. With this record, I had the joy of hearing it in rotation on one of the biggest radio stations in my home state of South Carolina, Hot 103.9FM! That moment meant everything to me; it was my dream come true. Like, I’m an independent artist who put herself on! Big thanks and love to JFresh P, Dj Gooch, and Neek for making it possible.

I would later release two more records, ‘Let Me Love You’ and ‘Chill A Lil Bit’ (both produced by Brian Pittman). All music is available on all digital platforms (iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, etc.).

You really have to know what you want, and you have to GO GET IT! Life is really what you make it out to be.

What’s next?
As for the future, I’m looking forward to the expansion of my business creating educational opportunities, releasing new projects in music and film, as well as working with more artists, producers, and content creators. Look out for Luciid Soul’s debut album to release 2022!
