Community Highlights: Meet Elaine & Marcus Mayfield of Ambience Event Space

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elaine & Marcus Mayfield.

Hi Elaine & Marcus, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Marcus and I got married on March 7, 2020. We have a beautifully blended family with All boys and two fur babies.

We got the idea of opening an event venue while searching for a wedding venue for our own wedding. We literally said “we can do this too” and within 3-4 months we had the keys to our first venue. Although this makes the process sound easy, there were a few hurtles we had to cross but with pretty much all of our savings on the line, we didn’t have a choice but to make it work.

We have now opened up a second venue and now we’re showing others how to open their own venue.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We opened our doors in April of 2019. Just when we started getting to really getting into the swing of things, we had to shut down for several months during covid. Of course, there were hardly any workarounds for us being that our business was based on people gathering. Even when the state opened up, people were still skeptical about booking an event.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Ambience Event Space is the perfect venue for your next personal or professional event. Conveniently located in Douglasville, GA (About 25 minutes from downtown Atlanta) with an ample amount of parking. Here, we host baby showers, weddings, bridal showers, graduation celebrations, you name it! With two rooms to choose from, you can’t go wrong. Our venue includes all of the necessary amenities that you will need for your celebration and our blank canvas allows you to be as creative as you want.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is to take time to learn the process of our business and document everything!
