Conversations with the Inspiring Randi Richardson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randi Richardson.

Randi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I graduated from college in 2010 as a Licensed Medical Esthetician. During the last semester, we had a crash course on makeup which is where I fell in love with the idea of doing others for an income. Long story short, I started my own business of doing hair (self-taught) and makeup for weddings, TV (Atlanta), events, and more. I constantly had clients and friends telling me I should incorporate teaching or something with my passion for beauty and fashion. While on maternity leave from having my daughter, Harlie, in early 2017 I started my fashion/lifestyle blog named: “The Dress Code” by Randi Richardson. I mix fashion, beauty, fitness, and lifestyle into my blog and I love it!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having a blog is far from “easy” as most like to think. Just sit down for 20 minutes and write your post for the day.. how hard is that, right? I wish! There is so much prep work that most have no clue about that goes into every single post. I’ve got to shop for new outfits weekly, put them together and ready for my next photoshoot, as well as plan what posts I’ll be pairing the outfits with. Another part of blogging that is time-consuming is all the linking. If someone has a blog strictly for a hobby and isn’t trying to make an income from it, then this part doesn’t count. But, I link every detail of my outfit down to my earrings for each post, as well as the different options for whatever I’m talking about in that post topic. Lastly, another challenge is “writer’s block”. Every author, blogger, or anyone who has to write daily/weekly will at some point(s) go through some writer’s block. This is basically when your mind goes blank or you just get stuck in a rut writing. I just recently went through it for the first time in 10 months of my blog. I just felt that I needed a break from writing but kept my Instagram posting up.

what should we know about The Dress Code Blog? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Having 8+ years of Esthetics background, I do know more than the typical beauty blogger. I also have always loved to put outfits together since I was a young teen.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
So many opportunities for women in the social media influencer market!
