Conversations with the Inspiring Sarah Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Williams.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m the “FLY Diva.” FLY is not just a title that can be crown by just any woman. FLY is a title that I’ve earned throughout my life journey. “FLY” stands for Fearlessly Loving Yourself means every woman of the world. I would love to share my story.

Growing up, nothing came easy, but I’m a true believer in “it’s not where you come from, it’s where you’re going.” At the age of two, I lost my mother from heart failure. My family consisted of seven sisters and two brothers. I am the youngest of the crew. One may not be able to imagine the feeling of a young girl living without her mother. At times, it left me with the feeling of void, emptiness, and loneliness. Not to mention all of the girly moments from learning to brush my dolls hair, how to put on my lipstick for my first prom date and also those precious intimate conversations about liking the guy next door. It was a life-changing experience, but I am upmost thankful.

It’s funny how life can birth precious diamonds out of the rough. My displacement of a mother left me with the determination to be an outstanding mother to my two beautiful daughters.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The beautiful thing about this journey is that it’s yours. There were many mistakes I made along this road called entrepreneurship. I take each one as a lesson learned. It’s not easy owning your own business while working a 9-5 job. I use to struggle with balancing and time management. We all want success, and what I had to realize is that it does not happen overnight. While wearing many hats-mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, life comes at you full force. I try to balance work life, by setting deadlines, mapping out my days (including my kid’s schedules). I am a true believer that nothing comes easy and in every failure, there is a lesson to be learned.

What should we know about F.L.Y. (Fearlessly Loving Yourself)? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the CEO of F.L.Y. I am a graduate from the University of South Florida (Home of the Bulls) where I obtained my BA degree in Business Management. I also have a Masters Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. I’ve been working in Corporate America for 12 years to date, and have held several leadership positions throughout the company. I am also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Although my life journey is still unfolding, each day, I’m able to make a difference is a blessing. With FLY, I’m allowing disbelievers to witness the magic they fail to see in themselves. Life is merely a canvas, and I choose to paint it F.L.Y.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Women are trailblazers! Magic is laced in the complex stands of our DNA. We are influencers and ready to take the lead in everything we come encounter with. As a woman, I am proud to know that my daughters (age 6 & 10) have the opportunity to step out of the box of the norms and continue to carry the torch.
