Conversations with Natasha Carson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Carson.

Hi Natasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up I always loved nails! I loved the art and different designs that would be on some sets. My dad would always say, “Girl, I don’t know why you like them long thangs.” I would always laugh and say, “But they’re so pretty though!” Eventually, when I got older he would finally let me go and get mine done and I have been wearing them ever since.

Fast forward to now, life happened and took over but my passion for nails never went away. My husband, kids, and myself moved to Covington, GA in 2018. That’s when something just hit me and said it’s time for you to do what you always loved! I thought to myself, well I like to wear nails never did I imagine doing my own or taking clients! But I first started on myself. I went out and bought everything I needed, came home, put my kids down for their nap, and sat at my dining room table and went to work…. Well, at least I thought I was doing something Lol! When I finished it wasn’t as bad as I thought but NOWHERE near my work today LOL! I just kept practicing and practicing even staying up to 2am sometimes just creating different sets. Then I just got better and better. Of course, my husband and kids are my greatest support team. They are everything!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road? No. LOL, some struggles that I faced especially in the beginning were learning to the process of nails. From laying acrylic smoothly, finding good products, finding time to get educated due to my busy schedule, building clientele, etc. I had to learn though that anything worth doing or worth having is worth fighting for so I just kept going and made no excuses for myself. The process was one I don’t regret and it was necessary for my success today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a nail tech now located in McDonough, GA. Originally from Tampa, FL. I LOVE to do freestyle sets I would say about 80% of my clients let me do whatever and I absolutely love it! Of course, I will slay any set presented to me LOL! I’m most proud of how far I have come. It’s been a road that tested my patience and made me question things. But it was worth it, I LOVE what I do. The thing that sets me apart the most from other techs is I’m so silly! LOL, I love to make my clients and people in general laugh. So not only will you get your nails slayed, professionalism at its best, but you also get a good laugh in the process!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I am a risk-taker now – at first, I wasn’t. Fear held me back from a lot of things. But now I’m willing to take risks. Investing in myself was the biggest fear I had. You couldn’t pay me to invest in myself! I was afraid of the “what ifs” you know what if this doesn’t go right, what if I lose money, what if nobody comes… but once I invested in myself and I’m not talking about just money either I’m talking time, speaking positive, researching things, those are all investments in yourself to perfect anything you’re doing. You only get one you….
