Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Smith.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up, I didn’t have the luxury of buying brands that were appealing to me. In my last two years of high school, I started my first job at Chick Fil A for the summer, prior to going into my senior year of high school. This was the first time I started getting money in my pocket. From there, I began to explore different types and brands of clothing appealing to me. While I was shopping at certain retail stores at H&M, F21, Rue21, Thrasher, ETC.
After graduating in 2018, I started to think of how I could implement my own ideas and put them on clothing. My first design idea I came up with was successful. I sold out within a couple of months. It had my brand name ” Sackchasin” and a man running with a bag of money in hand. After that, I just kept going!
I now have multiple designs that I am able to place on various types of apparel for men, women, kids and infants.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s obstacles & challenges with everything you do in life, all you can do is bet on yourself and just keep going. It hasn’t always been smooth. Looking back, I think the most difficult challenge(s) were at the startup of my business. Coming back to Georgia when I haven’t been back in years and building clientele in a whole new state where I’m not as known was hard for me. Also, finding good quality products was something I struggled with at first going through a lot of trial and error.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So I do about majority of the work for my brand… As far as making Products, posting on social media, Video Ads, Photos, etc… I love the process it never gets boring. Only thing I don’t do is make my designs, I have a buddy who listens to my ideas and he brings them to life every time! Shout out my graphic designer @DiazDesignCo on Twitter. Very Professional and easy to work with most defiantly would recommend.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me means overcoming adversity and what kind of impact you have on others… If you go on my business Instagram bio, I have a short saying that says, “A Black-Owned Apparel Brand Looking To Uplift & Motivates Through Art”. And that’s really what my intention is to see how many people I can touch through my clothing or just a simple conversation. I want to see everyone succeed in whatever they choose to do in life.
