Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason and Justin La Ferla. They share their story with us below:
UNFOWND MUSIK LLC was started by identical twin brothers Justin and Jason La Ferla who were born and raised in New York and have a passion for music and specifically finding new talent at an early age. After pursuing a career in basketball and receiving Division 1 scholarships to Ohio University they graduated with a major in Finance and a Minor in Audio Production. This transitioned into working in the promotions department for Arista Records in New York City and then starting an artist management company called 2WINZ Entertainment in Atlanta, Georgia, where they still currently reside. As entrepreneurs, they created a successful water filtration company called Avalon Water that was sold in 2018 to a publicly traded firm in a multi-million-dollar deal.
During the later days of Avalon Water, specifically in early 2017, they became extremely knowledgeable about the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry. This eventually developed into a crypto and blockchain consulting firm called Modern Asset Partners LLC, which they currently still operate. Throughout all their endeavors and impressive business journey, they always continued their passion for finding new talent in the music industry. As time passed, they realized that their true vision and expertise was in discovering the most elite up-and-coming or unknown artists/producers with a focus on Hip-Hop, Emo, Electronic, Pop, Phonk, and Alternative genres. Thus, UNFOWND MUSIK LLC was started in 2022.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. We lost our jobs as very successful account executives in the Mortgage business when the 2007 real estate meltdown of the economy happened and we went through financial hardship. But rebounded and started Avalon Water in 2009 that was later sold to a publicly-traded company. Me and Justin have had our battles with mental health, depression, and anxiety but credit family and friends for helping us get out of those dark periods in our lives. We have made millions before and lost millions. So, we truly know the glory and the pain of hustling to be successful. It has been an adventurous journey of ups and downs but we always kept fighting. Justin and I are pretty much serial entrepreneurs and on top of the record label we recently started in Jan 2022, we will soon be announcing another business venture that we believe will be the biggest business opportunity of our lives. At this point we can’t go into too much detail yet, but it involves capital raising for private companies and independent record labels using Blockchain and Security Token Offerings. The project will be launching in June 2022 and will be a game changer for companies looking to raise capital in a cost effective and efficient way.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
We originally defined success as how much money we made throughout all our business ventures. But as we’ve gotten older, we realized material things aren’t anything more than just “things”. During our lives we have had nothing and also had everything we wanted. There were many times when we were actually happier with less. When you’re on your death bed you’re not going to worry about all the “material things” you had or have in your life. You’re going to be focused on the people you loved and the relationships you had that were truly “priceless”.
