Exploring Life & Business with Ashley Stapleton of Edward Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Stapleton.

Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the financial services industry since 2001. I made the jump to Edward Jones in 2012 from SunTrust Bank. People thought I was nuts because at the time, I had a two year old and my wife was about to give birth to our second child. I was promised a salary that was 35% below what I was making at SunTrust. Also one way to prospect was go door to door. IT DIDN”T MAKE SENSE! I knew I wanted to own my own business and Edward Jones was a company that valued hard work, in fact, they rewarded it. Despite the doubters, I made the jump! I knocked on thousands of doors and cold called many businesses. The early years were tough!

The year after I started, my office moved an hour away from where I had been prospecting because another advisor left to join another firm. I had to start over. My mother in law passed away a month later from a long-term battle from breast cancer. Many more challenges came my way, but I prayed like it depended on God and worked like it depended on me. Today I run a successful practice in Newnan. The early hard work has payed big dividends. Persistence and prayer has gotten me to this point and will continue to be a driving force in my practice’s growth. New business comes from referrals now, which is much better than going door to door!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
See the above statement. Also, I’ve had many staffing changes. In 2018, my downtown Newnan office flooded with sewage water. It was gross! We had to relocate the office and re-opened at the end of 2019… Then COVID happened. People couldn’t come in to see the new office so I had to adapt to ZOOM meetings, phone calls, and rely on referrals because I couldn’t be out in the community like I desired!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Certified Financial Planner. What sets me apart from others is there won’t be someone else who is as vested in your financial wellness as me! I enjoy when my clients achieve their financial goals!

I love the fact Edward Jones is interested in the long-term. My company is focusing on Human Centered Complete Wealth Management. It’s more than money, it’s people that matter!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m very analytical but am not afraid of risk. My faith in God has led me down many paths that others perceive is risk. I believe risk are a matter of perception. Again, people thought I was cuckoo for leaving a stable job to pursue my passion. I think people don’t give themselves enough credit for how much they can do if they are willing to try!
