Exploring Life & Business with Mariah Shanice of Manifesting Dreams Apparel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Shanice.

Hi Mariah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The idea for Manifesting Dreams Apparel developed in 2017. This is the year that I decided to take the biggest leap of my life and take a break from my corporate career to follow my dreams. While on this wave of jumping and dream chasing, I wanted to create a brand that had a purpose. One that was more than just a trend or a catchy slogan, but a brand that could help change people’s lives. Being that I was on the journey of Manifesting My Dreams, I was able to incorporate quotes and content that helped me within the brand. It’s safe to say that while I was building a brand to help others, I was also growing and helping myself. MDA started out by only selling merchandise to family and local friends. We later began to gain traction through social media and this is when we realized just how powerful our brand was. No longer was the support just local but now people from all over were really rocking with us.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has not always been a smooth one. There have been many times that just giving up has crossed my mind but how could I when my entire brand is built off of the complete opposite?….. Some of the struggles that have come along the way have been creating brand awareness, being consistence, and of course the pandemic. It sometimes gets difficult when wearing multiple hats within the business. Choosing which task to take on first such as marketing, content creating, or brand development when they all are top priority. The pandemic started out as a struggle because we had planned to get out and become more hands on with potential consumers but a pivot was needed when everything was shut down. Despite the shutdown, the support black business movement really helped us during this time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Manifesting Dreams Apparel was designed to inspire and motivate individuals to fulfill their dreams as well as bring awareness to the power of manifestation. Almost everyone has dreams but for various reasons choose not to pursue them or to just give up on them. MDA is the brand that will not allow one to believe that their dreams are unobtainable. We are here for inspiration, encouragement, and reassurance that if you can dream it, you can achieve it. Something that I am most proud of about my brand is the inspiration that it provides to others. Nothing beats those comments and messages saying, “I needed that.” or “Thank you for that.” It shows that the brand is providing the value that it was set out to.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I don’t have a surprising fact because I am an open book.
