Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakeita Price.
Hi Shakeita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey started since realizing my skin was darker than my peers and my hair was shorter. I had self-esteem issues growing up because of my appearance. I recall mean comments from my peers and negative remarks about me from adults during my childhood years. Entering my teenage year, I was a lost young girl. I hung out in the streets and remembered living with different peers at the age of 15/16.
My junior year of high school in 2009, I wanted to drop out and failed my English and Math classes. I had always been an “A” student, but when I became distracted, I lost focus. I ended up graduating as an honor student and relocated to another city where I attended college and obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. While in undergraduate college, I joined the military in 2011. I attended my military training during the summer while college was out. I joined the Army National Guard and continued to attend college full time. After graduating in 2014, I founded my nonprofit organization Ladies Divine To Shine, which is a mentoring program for young girls. I then returned to college to pursue my Master’s degree but had to drop off due to getting pregnant with my daughter. After giving birth, I returned to graduate school when my daughter was six months and commuted 2 hour round trips for two years to obtain my Master’s Degree in Social Work.
While attending graduate school, I started my business Price Professional Services, to supplement my income, which offers business consulting services, resume writing, and much more. After obtaining my Master’s Degree, I passed the exam to become a Licensed Masters of Social Work and now offer counseling service at a private practice. As my business, Price Professional Services continued to grow with credit consulting services, I was introduced to Real Estate. I became a Mortgage Lender last year and have been able to help over 50 families accomplish homeownership. I was recently voted the Top Mortgage Lender in the Pee Dee. I am the only black mortgage branch manager in the city of Florence. I assist homeowners in Atlanta, GA as well because I am a satellite branch of Summit Funding in Atlanta, GA, with Lashonte Harris. In the past two years, I have written two books. I was a co-author in the 1st book “The Extraordinary Makeover,” and the second book I wrote was with realtor Xavier Sams “How To Buy A Home in 30 days”. My daughter’s 3rd birthday in 2018, I launched her business “Amina’s Prissy Paints” where she sells clothes and accessories to little girls. My daughter, Amina is the primary reason I continue to move forward.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it was not a smooth road. I had low self-esteem. Hung out late nights with drug dealers and sat in crack houses and witness people shoot up drugs. I lived from house to house during my teenage years. I was “boy struck” and lost myself in the process. I got into physical altercations because of boys.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am known as a walking resource. I am known for helping people and serving my community. I specialize in helping people break generational curses through obtaining better employment, improving their credit, and accomplishing homeownership.
Price Professional Services, LLC offers affordable resume writing services and business consulting services to improve the quality of life for others and their businesses. I am the Mortgage Branch Manager for the Florence location of Summit Funding. I have been able to help over 50 families become homeowners in just one year in the industry. 80% of them only had the opportunity to witness their family fall into the category of being rental tenants, stepped out on faith, and trusted me and my team to assist them in becoming first generational homeowners. I have been voted as the TOP Mortgage Lender of The Pee Dee.
I am proud to be able to help move my community forward. I am proud that my community trusts me because I am nothing without them. It is always the people over the paycheck. I want readers to know that my team and I care about them and their future. We strive to serve with excellence. We offer affordable services to assist them with accomplishing their goals.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see myself being a millionaire within the next year. I plan to launch my academy, “Loan Officer Academy” to teach individuals who are interested in mortgage lending how to be top-producing mortgage lenders and make six figures in their first year and make a large impact in their community.
