Hidden Gems: Meet Tiana Florence of Botanical Safari

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana Florence.

Hi Tiana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story is simple. I love plants. It’s a feeling that’s indescribable. When I’m feeling down, I look at my plants and see the beauty of the world. My love for plants started as a young girl. As a child, I could be found on my paternal grandmother’s wrap-around porch watching and learning how to care for plants. She would allow me to assist her with watering her plants while teaching me basic plant care. My maternal grandfather had a GREEN THUMB. He could literally grow anything. We had every fruit tree imaginable planted in our yard. So my love for plants and living things is simple. I was taught to appreciate nature and its bounty. In high school, I would enter plants into competitions. I would enter plants into local competitions and my plants would be displayed at the county fair.

As you see, my love affair with plants started at a tender age. I decided to open Botanical Safari to share my love of plants with my community. I wanted a space where people felt safe to ask questions about plants or share knowledge with others about their plant journey.. I wanted to create an environment that is rich in knowledge and inviting to all plant lovers. When you step inside our shops, We want everyone to feel welcomed. It’s my happy place for sure. I want our guests to feel at ease when purchasing a plant, learning about a plant or sharing information about plants they have at home.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
To be honest, it really has been a smooth road. I have encountered a few struggles along the way, but nothing that I can’t overcome. I love plants and I love people. Some of the people that enter the shop have no idea how they help me during their visits. When they ask me question, I light up because I love engaging with them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Botanical Safari specializes in houseplants. We have two retail locations, Douglasville and Buckhead. We carry an array of indoor plants, rare plants and plant paraphernalia. We offer plant consultations, plant workshops and plant installations to individuals and businesses. What sets us apart from others is the special attention we give our customers. The best part of the day is the smile on our customers faces when they leave our shops.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The characteristics that I feel are most important to my success is my dedication to the people I serve. Customer service is my number one priority.
