Life and Work with Amanda Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Jones.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
So, I just want to say that this has literally been God driven from the start. I have prayed for EVERYTHING I have now and when I think about it, it’s mind-blowing how life comes full circle. In high school, I knew I had to become something that would make my late grandma proud because I totally promised her that I was going to be a pediatrician and we see how that worked out. As much as I wanted to follow up through with that, I would’ve never made it through college being a science major.

Prior to going off to college, I was watching an episode of ‘The Hills’ and googled what Heidi did for a living because I could totally become Heidi in the future, right? Right. So, after some research, I found out she was a PR + Communications professional. BOOM. DONE. That’s what I’m going to school for. This all sounds like one big joke, doesn’t it? It’s not. Sidenote: I almost veered off and majored in Computer Science (gasp).

Fast forward to my bachelor’s degree in progress, I began to develop a vision for my company in my spare time. I settled for jobs that had absolutely nothing to do with my aspirations as a marketing professional. Life lessons, period, because what seemed to be a time that I was wasting was actually the time God took to prepare me. The more I hated those jobs, the more I dwelled on how I can honor my grandma as a non-pediatrician? Well, her name was Darley + I wished that I could share all my life stories with her. *cues light bulb* I tapped into those creative juices that I hadn’t honed in on since high school.

Dear Darley was born.

Marketing + brand management dedicated to the storytelling of our clients with a unique combination of authenticity + a master plan.

Has it been a smooth road?
I wouldn’t say it has been a smooth road. I wouldn’t say it has been tough either because, honestly, I have this strong sense of understanding that what God has for you, is for you NO MATTER WHAT… No. Matter. What. Nothing else gives me that kind of peace beyond a shadow of doubt besides understanding that when I hit those inevitable roadblocks. I have wanted this for a long time now and don’t get me wrong – the fears, the doubts, the lack of motivation have crippled me at times + are still a challenge on some days but it comes down to how long do you allow those feelings to linger. My advice is to pray about it and GO FOR IT. Whatever your IT is, just do it!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dear Darley Marketing + Branding – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Dear Darley is a marketing + brand management agency dedicated to the storytelling of our clients with a unique combination of authenticity + a master plan. Our mission is to help businesses see that their identity is authentic + one-in-a-million. It’s important for us to tell the story of our clients to ensure that real + honest connections are made aside from the product or service that your business provides. We want to transform the way you see yourself + the way you connect with your audience, bringing the YOU out in YOUr business.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I was raised in a single parent household + my mom bussed her butt to make sure that we had everything we needed. She is such an inspiration + exemplifies every day what a hard working woman looks like. Her + my grandmother have been my role models since I was a child. I have watched them work hard in the work field just to ensure that they can make everyone’s lives around them easier with a genuine, loving heart. I can definitely say they are the reasons why I’m determined to align with my purpose to become successful while making a difference in the lives of others.
