Today we’d like to introduce you to Khrys H.
Khrys, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today
[We Are Little Giants] started right in the heart of Downtown Atl! I was pregnant with our little one, and we decided to make a few pieces for him. Our friends and fam wanted the same items…and our little business was born shortly after he was. It has been a wild ride, but we’re super grateful for the love and respect our “squad” of supporters, subscribers, and customers has shown us over the years! That is absolutely one of the reasons we are still here to this day!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It most certainly has not been a smooth road, lol… in life and of course in business. I would say that’s unheard of while navigating a small business/ startup. Struggles come with the territory. We’ve been on quite a roller coaster to say the least. From late nights breastfeeding, to early morning post office runs. I remember a time where we had to decide on shipping packages a day late or skipping out on a doctor’s appointment for my son. I don’t even remember which one we chose to do…I just remember the argument in the car on 285, haha. Any moms out there wanting to pursue this life must be in for the journey! The quick come up just wasn’t a reality for us. We’ve been a small team from inception and still are. A mentor of mine gave me genius advice once. She said, “As a woman…always remember your ‘why'” . The why must always be bigger than any dollar amount or any person or tangible thing. It’s the reason you get out of bed every day on your personal pursuit of happiness. I’ve tried to keep this advice close to me in the hardest of moments. I hope that reaches the right girl at the right time!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with We Are Little Giants – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
[We Are Little Giants] are a premium streetwear brand for children. We infuse knowledge, skate, and hip hop culture into each and every product, store experience, and even our customer service emails. We make close for kids that adults would want to wear, but of course that culture is re-appropriated and distilled into products for the youth! We’re known for this, proud of it, and we wholeheartedly stand by it.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well-positioned for?
I’ve had an entrepreneurial spirit since grade school. I’ve always known that great preparation goes well with opportunity, however, we have to create our own opportunities these days. We are well suited and well-positioned to handle our own businesses and execute our own ideas. We should be supporting and giving each other opportunities as well. We’re well-positioned to work efficiently under pressure and adapt at high levels as well. We come equipped with un-matched intuition that is extremely necessary for the business world today! We’re bosses as well as skilled team members. I LOVE seeing women pushing through industries together as a team! We’re capable of special shit! With knowledge and dedication, we are assets and essential for all types of opportunities!
