Life and Work with Myah J

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myah J.

Myah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a female artist born in Alabama but reside in Atlanta, GA. Even though I’m from such a small town I was still able to dream big enough and to go after everything I wanted. I was a mother as teen but I couldn’t let that stop me. I have one real goal and that’s to be a Star, Music is my life’s passion and I love to express myself in every song.

Going after your dreams is what it’s all about.  Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Music is probably one of the toughest roads to go down especially as a female. I consider myself to be a seasoned artist and by that I mean, I have made it through all the lies, games and dream selling enough to see it a mile away now. Most people don’t understand that it’s roughly a 5-10 year grind to make it in this industry but it’s worth every sweat and tear. My advice to all women fighting for this life is to learn the business, demand your respect, recognize the game, invest in yourself and don’t settle.

We’ve heard about the 5-10 year grind from many of our interviewees – it’s something people say they didn’t know going into it, but seems to be a common experience. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
I recently completed my “Perfect Timing Mixtape and the world was quick to embrace my stunting demeanor, spontaneous movements, charming humor, and soothing personality. Now, “Cash Back” is the new single that’s making waves in the street for me. I definitely bring a new and innovative Pretty Girl Swag to the Microphone. With the excitement of my success so far in the music industry, I like to show the versatility of flow ability. I know my smile lights every room and I will continue to improve my sorting and vocal skills working with talented producers such as Cassius Jay, Zaytoven and many more.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I love to meditate and listen to motivational videos. My favorite speaker is Les Brown, I’d recommend him to anyone that needs to learn how to retrain yourself to think positive.
