Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Flint.
Nicole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved fashion for as long as I could remember. I grew up wanting to work in fashion as a fashion designer. I remember growing up and idolizing Kimora Lee Simmons, watching Tyra Banks on America’s Next Top Model, and watching Lauren Conrad on The Hills and thinking to myself “I would love to work in fashion one day”. I’m currently in the traditional route working a Monday-Friday 9-5 job as a project manager for a corporate sign installation company. I have always loved beauty and style. My friend who unfortunately passed away in July of 2016, would always come to me for makeup advice and take me with her when she would go to the makeup counter at Macy’s because she didn’t know what to ask for. She told me one day, that I should start a blog. I thought about it and thought about it and decided to go for it. I launched The Life With Nicole in December of 2016 to give myself a fresh start in 2017. In my short time of blogging, I never would have thought I would reach over 6,000 monthly readers, collaborate with brands such as Neutrogena and Dove, as well as having the opportunity to connect with other like minded bloggers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s definitely not a smooth road. We, as a blogger/influencer tend to hear the word “oversaturated” a lot and I always wonder to myself, is it too late to be a blogger. But it’s never too late. My advice for a young woman who’s trying to become a blogger/influencer is that it’s not easy. There’s a lot of hard work involved. Especially with the behind the scenes logistics, our readers and followers don’t see. Such as working with photographers and scouting new locations to shoot in, meeting deadlines when working with brands, keeping up with your editorial calendar, web hosting, etc. Sometimes, it’s hard to fall off the wagon because once you start out as a new blogger, you’re not going to see the growth right away. But, don’t let that bother you! Have fun, create the content YOU want to create and the growth and opportunities will come to you.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Life With Nicole – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Life with Nicole is a personal life + style blog where I create content on fashion, beauty, life, health + fitness, travel and more. My readers love the skincare and personal style content. What I’m most proud of is being able to connect and engage with my readers. On the blog and through social media. I read blog comments, Instagram comments, and Facebook comments and I always take the time to engage back with my readers. I think that’s the key to bringing them back to your site.
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Generally, I think it’s garnering a support group with other women. Reach out, network, and build those relationships. To get more women in leadership roles, we have to help and support each other.
