Life & Work with Brandie Brancheau

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandie Brancheau.

Hi Brandie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I graduated from Paul Mitchell the School Tampa. I moved back to Detroit, MI. Shortly after and started working at a blow dry bar where an established MUA was working. I asked if I could assist her and she said yes! I started to assist her on a local magazine and other freelance sets. She moved to another state a few months later, and her clients started contacting me. Everything snowballed from there. I slowly made connections and started perfecting my craft. I worked in and managed salons in Detroit and Pittsburgh for five years. But right before Covid-19, I moved to Atlanta. I feel like quarantine forced us all to stop and focus. That’s when B.Wild makeup was born. I invested into building a new kit, logo, LLC, business cards and continuing education. One year later, I just opened a salon suite and have booked over 73 Brides in 2021! B.Wild is off to a great start.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not, I feel like you can get easily distracted and discouraged. Life happens! As you grow your business, you are also growing into an adult. I think my biggest challenge was becoming a mom and being a business owner. Your baby doesn’t sleep but neither does your business! You have to find the right balance and do what you love! Also, just remind yourself… everyone started with zero clients and zero followers!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full-time bridal and special event hair and makeup artist. I specialize in natural makeup applications and boho textured hairstyles. I want my clients/brides to feel like a polished version of there self! I want your skin to look like SKIN! I absolutely love lived in styles and braids. I am proud that you can visibly see my progression on my Instagram. A year ago, my low textured bun was not my today’s low textured bun! What will always set me apart from other artists is my customer service! I will always go above and beyond for my client.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Honey book the app is a lifesaver to help keep me organized while booking clients. I really love Winn Claybaugh Master podcast, it’s geared towards the salon industry and really helps you think like a six digit earning stylist. I also love “be nice or else” by Winn Claybaugh! Honesty, any Paul Mitchell student is shaken their head but it such a great series and book!
