Life & Work with Mr. Affamé

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mr. Affamé.

Hi Mr. Affamé, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hauté Couture brands have always been interesting to me. I love the design process the garments go through and the history behind these brands. As my interest in the high fashion world grew, I noticed a lack of a completely black-owned and Fashion Houses in your officially recognized Haute Couture houses. Which drove me to want to start my own brand and develop it into a fashion house over time.

Affamé came about as I got older and realized that I want to always strive forward in life and learn to better myself and to never be complacent. That expectation helped me come up with the name Affamé (translates to hungry in French) which you have to be in order to progress anywhere in life. My hope is for everyone who wears Affamé feels that extra drive to keep pushing through anything they’re going through whenever they put on any Affamé clothing. My goal is to grow Affamé into a top-class fashion house and become the reason people keep pushing on.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Overall, I don’t have too many obstacles. The only two challenges I consistently face at various levels would be being a perfectionist & practicing patience. Being a perfectionist in my work and wanting every piece to be perfect before showing the public sometimes causes the time between my releases to vary. However, great quality work takes time and I try not to let myself stress over having a little time between my releases. The second and probably the biggest challenge I face would be patience. Patience through my creative process end to end, making sure I’m working with the right people to get certain pieces done. The sample and design processes, and making sure I create or find the perfect setting for photoshoots for certain products. I love process is fun to work on and despite these obstacles it’s always worth it at the end of the day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Affamé is an all-inclusive brand with clothing for every audience. I intend for everyone to be able to find a piece of Affamé that speaks to them and to ensure that happens I work on customs along with my general apparel for Affamé. I do a lot of different custom clothing work such as tailoring, altering or painting jeans, jackets, bags, etc. That is something that sets me apart from other brands because not only can you grab a general product from me, but I can also help personalize clothing to make 1 of 1 outfits for customers. I pride myself in making the customer experience as unique, seamless and stress-free as possible.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite apps would easily be photoshop and notes, that’s where I’m able to get all my ideas out even to just a minimal stage just to have a visual at what I’m trying to design or notes if I can’t picture a complete visual but I have a theme or idea I’d like to work on in the future. I’m just now getting into podcasts so my favorites list is short but they are Earn your leisure & Theories of the third kind.
