Life & Work with Rachel Haralson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Haralson.

Hi Rachel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Rachel Haralson – I started at Line Creek Brewing Co. almost four years ago to the day. I was hired as a Beertender in June 2018 while I was in my sophomore year of college at SCAD Atlanta. Within about six months, they had an open position for their Social Media and Marketing Coordinator position, and after applying, I started in November 2018. I then finished my degree in Illustration in Winter 2020, and have been full-time in this role ever since. Now as the Social Media & Marketing Manager, I am responsible for our social media, can labels (working from a style guide) and all original illustrations on the cans, flyers, event planning, marketing, Taproom stuff, and wherever else that I am needed.

I have been a creative my whole life; I can remember as early as an elementary school doing art camp, being most excited about taking art classes in middle school, and finally being able to expand my creativity and skill in my high school art classes. I finally decided to further that passion by enrolling in SCAD and commuting while working full time. Through hard work and dedication, I have been blessed with a great opportunity to grow to expand my portfolio, illustration and branding skills, and creative confidence. It was not an opportunity I thought possible nor did I see it coming, but it worked out and I wouldn’t trade where I am at for the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There was a couple of struggles along the way, mainly finishing my degree while trying working behind the bar and being in the Social Media position. It was a relief to finally finish after some very difficult years at SCAD.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in illustration, graphic design, and product design. I am most proud of creating the Slogan Logo for the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild in the Fall of 2021. They held a competition open to all GA breweries and their employees, and ours was the chosen winner for the Slogan Logo with Creature Comforts winning the main logo. I feel like I am set apart from others in that I as a creative have found the perfect niche to be able to use my degree, be an artist, and combine it with a newly found passion in craft beer. I also am responsible for the illustrations and can design for Line Creek Brewing Co. and am very proud to be able to have these in my portfolio.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success is when everyone involved gets to express their passion, have their opinion heard, and together as a team reach the common goal. Having community support, people that are passionate about the brand, and a great team to me often leads to success.

For my personal success, I believe it is when someone comes to me with their idea, and I am able to successfully capture and illustrate what they had in their head. Seeing their reaction to being able to put an image to their idea is very rewarding.
