Today we’d like to introduce you to Skyla Jenkins. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Skyla started her lingerie brand HUDSON|NEWKIRK in January 2020. She obtained her private label, has over 20 signed models across the United States; two of which are partnered brand ambassadors and an Executive Coordinator to assist with streamlining tasks for the brand. All of this she obtained in less than a year. The business is named after two very stylish & insightful women, Skyla’s maternal great grandmother & paternal grandmother. (Emma Hudson & Rosa Newkirk). From the stories she has been told they were impressive women in their own right. So, their last names were so fitting for her company as a reflection of who she is and a way to pay homage to them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Battling the issues brought on by COVID-19; such as extreme delay in deliveries, customer orders not received, decrease in staff with delivery companies & manufacturers, etc.
It was no longer business as usual. There was a lot of uncertainty. Even for online businesses. Skyla had to get even more creative & it forced her to challenge herself like never before. She was determined to provide premium quality merchandise & outstanding customer service to the public.

What sets me apart from others is that I’m an inclusive person. And I bring that same energy to my business. I welcome input from my team. I believe that representation is vital, so that’s why I have models of various ages, hues, and sizes.
As a company, I’m most proud of my team. Without them, there is no HUDSON|NEWKIRK. They’re all very supportive, willing to work, & bring so much creativity to the brand. Their age ranges from early 20’s to over 50, and they all have unique looks, personalities, values, & I love it!
What makes you happy?
Being able to live life to the fullest with my family and friends. There’s nothing in comparison than spending quality time with those you love. I can always make more money but time is something I can’t get back once it’s gone, so I spend it wisely.
