Meet Alana Nicole and S. Cole of Whole Snacks Podcast in North Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alana Nicole and S. Cole.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We have known each other since 3rd grade and have been best friends ever since. Alana was the first on the podcast train and slowly but surely got S into all of her favorites. In 2018/2019, we were both individually thinking about what it would be like to have our own podcast. One day Shay just blurted it out and the name game began. We ran through probably ten names before we both gravitated towards Whole Snacks Podcast. In our own words, ” We’re both snacks and put us together and we’re a whole snack!”. The name plays on the fact that we’re both also food and lifestyle bloggers, and S. Cole is also a published author. We love to incorporate food and drinks in every episode to showcase great restaurants, our favorite foods, and new drink recipes. We call ourselves a girls’ night in podcast because that’s a night where every girl feels most comfortable; being surrounded by your girls is one of the best feelings. We want to give every woman (and man) that feeling when they listen to us. We want to be that much needed extension of your friend group.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Growing an audience from virtually nothing is never easy. Of course, we both have our friends’ and family’s support but we’ve had to really work to figure out how to cultivate a real, engaging audience. Technology is also not both of our strong suits, so learning the ends and outs of what it takes to really run a podcast has been difficult at times. It’s been a lot of trial and error, but we’re getting the hang of it! Also, social media is constantly changing. We have to stay up to date on what people want. How are we going to be seen? What is going to make us stand out? Those are things we have to continue to think about and mold our brand around every week. We want to have a successful business and we want to bring happiness and entertainment to our listener’s lives. During this process, we have to remember what it is we set out to do and remain true to ourselves and not lose the Alana and S that started Whole Snacks. It’s a balancing act for sure, but we’re making it work and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for our business!

Please tell us about Whole Snacks Podcast.
Alana and S are both food and lifestyle bloggers. S began her writing journey as a novelist and when she was struggling with some personal things and writer’s block, Alana was the light that guided her out of the tunnel with blogging. Alana had been blogging for a while and brought S into that world, showing her another outlet to get her creative juices flowing. Alana’s blog, Solely Living, is extremely successful and constantly growing and it amazes S every day. S was finally able to climb out of the darkness and has since released two books and hopes to continue down the path of being an author. Whole Snacks is a podcast but is a combination of both women’s beginning businesses, Solely Living and S. Cole, LLC. It’s a mixture of everything they talk about in their separate ventures, from food to cocktails, to dating and true crime; it’s all about living your best millennial life and cultivating a lifestyle that works for you. We’re not afraid to have fun and be our genuine selves on air. Whole Snacks is yet another creative outlet Alana and S have to live a fulfilled life and hopefully bring joy to others!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We’ve been extremely lucky to have each other through all of this. Starting a new business is hard enough, so it’s been great to have someone else as passionate as you working towards the same goal. It’s much easier to bounce ideas off someone who knows you so well. We’re also really lucky to have a large group of friends and family that support us without even having to ask. I think starting Whole Snacks really showed both of us how many people we have in our corner.
