Today we’d like to introduce you to Alayah Barbee.
Alayah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started doing makeup at the age of 16. I found my passion at an early age from going to Tri-Cities High School, a performing arts school. I’ve done makeup for multiple musicals with cast members up to 40 people. After graduating high school, I went to The Gwynnis Mosby Makeup Academy to become a certified and professional makeup artist. After doing that, I went to esthetic’s school at the Elaine sterling institute to get my esthetician’s license. My goal in the beauty industry has been Specializing in natural Glam, for a corporate film & the everyday woman while doing that I’ve built clientele, worked on movie sets, worked for CBS 46 News Station, worked celebrity events. Worked numerous tradeshows such as The Bronner Brothers, Atlanta Woman’s Expo, Skin & Body Show, etc. My focus has been to master the skin & enhance my client’s beauty from within. I’m adamant about giving my client a life-changing experience once they leave my chair. Because my intention is to have a life long client. Beauty is not just enhancing at the moment for me. It’s building trust with my clients, being available for my clients, and being consistent with my clients. Beauty is my lifestyle.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of my biggest struggles has been not comparing myself to anyone else. Being patient with my process. Believing in myself even when it seems like no one else does. Keeping myself motivated to keep creating and pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
