Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert Stallworth Jr.
Albert, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Over the past eight years, I’ve been working with garage door service. I rather enjoy it being that I work with my hands and mind on an everyday basis. I got very good with it realizing that it just came to me easier than most things. I learned everything from proper installation of garage doors and openers to all repair that happens years post-install. But throughout the process, I began realizing I was underappreciated and paid, not getting the recognition I deserved.
Although I was doing what I was paid for and doing it well, business ethics were tossed to the side for the sake of sales sales sales. That didn’t sit right with me. Charging the customer as much as possible the meet a sales quota. I knew I could do better but entrepreneurship was never something I saw myself doing. However, deep down I knew it was my calling, so I stepped out on faith putting my mission ahead of my fear. Now I see this was the best decision I have ever made. Each day I give thanks not only cause I get to do what I love yet I get to give people great service with a fair price and live life on my terms.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Its been ups and downs but more ups. Some of the struggles obviously are putting the name out there so customers can find me. Social media has played a huge role in branding my business. Having enough working capital so I can purchase material, tools, licenses and insurance was an issue in the beginning.

AB Garage Door Service, LLC specializes in residential garage doors and opener sales, service and installation. I am very proud to have the opportunity to work with custom builders, home renovators, real estate agents and directly with homeowners. Being a small business sets me apart from big business garage door companies because I can offer affordable pricing and faster turnaround on garage door installations. I can be more personal with my customers and build a bond since they will be dealing with just me and not lots of middlemen.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I fell that I’m a grounded person and that keeps me humble in spite of the success of my business. Being a people person is also very essential being that I deal with the public directly. Honesty and Dependability are my most important traits because the customer has to be able to trust that you will do what you said you will do.
