Meet Bernadette Marshall of NBG Drafting & Design in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernadette Marshall.

Bernadette, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m originally from South Africa, where I attended the Johannesburg High School for Art, Ballet & Music.

Next, I acquired a National Diploma in Art & Design (Master’s Degree Graphic Design), from Witwatersrand Technicon – Johannesburg, South Africa.

After my studies, I worked as a Graphic Designer for various advertising agencies, design studios and packaging companies in South Africa.

In 1989 I relocated to USA and started NB Graphics & Associates, Inc., out of an apartment in Norcross, GA.

Most of the work at that time was graphic design and technical illustrating however I got a client who needed patent drawings and that was the beginning of specializing in Patent Drawings. We have since changed our name to NBG Drafting & Design and broadened our offerings

We now prepare complex high-tech design and utility patent drawings, engineering drawings and technical illustrations nationally and internationally using Autodesk software and 3D modeling.

Whether you require an improvement to a product or an entire redesign, we have the experience and ability to create drawings from conceptual sketches to precise engineering drawings for manufacture.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a smooth road, I love what I do and have very smart and talented people working for me

So, as you know, we’re impressed with NBG Drafting & Design – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
What sets us apart from other companies is the scope of what we offer. Patent Drafting is a niche market. Most patent drafters or patent drafting companies only offer patent drawings. We offer much more, from design & development to manufacturing drawings.

We help inventors design and develop ideas figuring out how it should look, how it should work and how it should be made. Then we do patent drawings of the invention for a patent application and then we do manufacturing drawings. We also do marketing materials. In other words, we can take an idea right through to manufacture and marketing.

What I am most proud of is to be working with some of the largest medical device manufacturers and consumer products manufacturers.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the trees and worry that too many are getting cut down. I hate the traffic.
