Meet Brandon Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Lewis.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brandon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started with an interest in being a better music creator. Music has always come naturally to me, but I never imagined I’d be a signed artist. At some point, my love and interest in music began to take over. I accepted my fate and leaned into my gift. I began researching the local Memphis music business scene and I found The Consortium MMT where I would learn how to become a better singer, songwriter, and record producer through the Soulright Music Mentoring Program. I studied my craft under the mentorship of the Hall of Fame Songwriter and Producer, David Porter, learning the formula for songwriting and music production. After two years, I began working as an intern and ultimately became Director of Programming for The Consortium MMT. During this time, I have been able to hone my skills and develop my craft while also giving back to the Memphis music community as a mentor and leader. Today, I am signed to MIME Records as a singer, songwriter, and composer.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. It takes countless hours of rehearsal, preparation, writing, brainstorming, and collaborating. For every mistake I made along the way, there was a lesson learned. It’s challenging being an artist when we don’t make much profit from our music. Passion must be an incentive for making music to overcome this reality. Creating during the Covid-19 pandemic has presented new challenges, as well as new creative solutions. The journey from here is something I continue to look forward to.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Brandon Lewis is an R&B and Soul singer and composer of commercial music for the marketplace of today. I am known for my music, my style, and community engagement. I am most proud of my latest single releases including Natural High, Lean On Me (A Tribute to Bill Withers), and Black Man. My sound and my look set me apart from other artists. My sound is significant for the times, but it’s tailored to my individuality. Majority of the time I create music that is grown and sexy, yet young and fresh.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was highly self-motivated. I never needed to be encouraged to do something, I just wanted to know-how. I was very driven and passionate about anything I put my mind to. I was very loving to those around me as well as observant.
