Meet Chasity Millen of Love & Light Healing in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chasity Millen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Love & Light Healing was created in 2011 but began as tiny seeds back when I was a dreamy-eyed little girl that was in love with plants and “pretty rocks” (crystals). I would read books on herbalism and remember going to the greenhouse with my mother and grandmother and bringing home different herbs and flowers to research and grow. My grandmother’s 100-acre farm nurtured my love for nature where my family had a huge garden during the summers of my youth and was a place of comfort not only for me but also for my children when they were little. Fast forward through my young adult years and early motherhood, I was getting burnt out from working for a major logistic/shipping company and one day in 2010, while at a local artisan market with my children, I found a button that would initiate me reconnecting with my purpose. It simply said, “live the life that you would want your children to live.”… simple enough… what did I want for them? To be happy.

To do what they loved to do and to be honest, I wasn’t. I was helping others but in a narrow, materialistic way. I was great at what I did. I enjoyed solving problems and handling the operation reports but it was not what I truly loved. I loved helping people and helping them heal in a holistic sense (mind, body, and spirit). I loved honoring the process of life and nature (the complete opposite of the deadlines and rush of my current career). So, I decided to live the life I would want my children to live and chose to reconnect to that little dreamy-eyed girl that wanted to help people. In 2011, I started my Reiki training and incorporated into the energy work I had already been providing for friends/family. I began making jewelry that incorporated crystals and gemstones for their metaphysical properties for clients and began building my apothecary offerings. It started with family first, which is the foundation of Love & Light Healing. I created herbal remedies that would help my daughter and the soreness she experienced from playing AAU basketball year round and the growth spurts my son was having. From herbal salves to teas with holistic benefits, I started selling my items at local artisan markets and events in my hometown (Grand Rapids, Michigan).

In between, I finished all levels of my energy work training and also became a certified herbalist ( with Indigenous Remedies) and also started my apprenticeship to be a birth doula (a birth worker that offers antepartum, labor/birth and postpartum support). Aligned with my calling of not only assisting those that are presented here but to also help welcome future generations to this Earth. I would spend five years honing my craft and building my offerings. I continued to do shows/events and with the help of word of mouth, my products were beginning to sell regularly. It felt good to know those simple ingredients were able to help people feel better and uplifted. Personally, I felt I had reached a plateau in my own healing and felt a shift beginning within. I went to a transformative retreat in Hawaii while my children went to visit family and I realigned with all pieces that I had displaced of myself. It was intense and I recommitted to my own healing in reflection to the lives I wanted to touch during the process. I can home be renewed and promised to only. I would focus on my own healing and be open to true alignment with people that respected me and my journey as much as I did theirs AND this included the next person that I would be with. I knew what I brought to the table and I was not going to play small and dim life in friendships AND with my love.

That focused INTENTION brought me my wife who had been working through her own lessons and blessings and we aligned when we both finally said enough is enough. So, not only was I experiencing a rebirth so was my company… we were learning what our truth was and what truly felt authentic. All of which you can see even in the evolution of our labels and packaging of our products. My children and wife inspired me to go bigger! Sign up for more events to vend at, to enter a pitch competition (which I won 2nd place!) even with a fear of public speaking, teach classes, and to nurture MY DREAM as I do for others. Without their support, I feel Love & Light Healing would not have grown to where it is and where is going.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was fairly smooth. It started slowly and I sometimes felt as if people were not fully ready for what I was offering in my hometown. My business was fully funded by me and the sales that were coming in but I felt as if it was sometimes restricted because not many people were into holistic healing beyond my friend’s group. My online sales were the majority of my earnings and I felt a bigger influx for opportunity when I relocated to Atlanta three years ago.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Love & Light Healing story. Tell us more about it.
Love & Light Healing was born out of wanting to send love and facilitate healing for everyone from deep within our spirit. We incorporate different modalities of healing to show that “Holistic Healing” means bringing balance and loving energy to every part of our being. I am a Reiki Master-Teacher, Spiritual Advisor, certified Community Centered Herbalist, Birth Doula/Midwifery Student, Womb Wellness Coach, & Jewelry/Natural Body Product Artisan.

I have been doing energy work for decades and I have been working with Usui Reiki since 2011 (completing my Reiki Master-Teacher certification in 2014). I provide Reiki sessions that include crystal therapy, aromatherapy, chromatherapy, and intuitive guidance that comes up from working with your energetic field and spirit guides.

I am also a certified Community Based Herbalist that rounds out my gifts to offer holistic care in its entirety. I have over 25 years of experience of working with what the Earth has given us. I have created a complete line of incense, teas, tinctures, and other herbal apothecary products to promote and enhance complete wellness. I offer in person and remote herbal consultations for anyone that is interested.

I am proud of Love & Light Healing and our partner company, MIllenheirs (created by my wife) because we have you covered in totality. My focus is centered on feminine energy and giving you products that speak to your heart and my wife focus is centered on the masculine energy to help you balance both parts within yourself. This is where true healing comes from.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I feel as if this industry will only get larger as people reconnect with a more natural way of living. Our health is literally our wealth and we are collectively reconnecting with the Earth and a more authentic way of living. We see the state our planet is in and our overall health (mental, emotional, physical). We listen to the heart of the issues we see and create products that align with those needs.
