Meet Clarence Lockett of Lockett Memories Videography in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clarence Lockett.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Clarence. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Lockett Memories Videography started out of my college filmmaking experience years ago. I first wanted to dabble in all areas of filmmaking and I felt like I had the skills necessary to capture a wedding story. My first wedding clients loved their video and it was pretty much history from there. Most clients would say my videos look like a movie, and that was my background, movie making, so it was a perfect combination.

After graduation, I was still making wedding videos so I just continued to do that. As my business grew, I begin to expand from one extra videographer helping to a team of four videographers that I regularly worked with on different weddings. I kept the same goal with my team that I’ve had from the very beginning. Our priority is to never miss a moment, and we work very hard to do that and keep within our specific coverage areas.

We have had rave reviews from clients on our services, but it hasn’t gotten to our heads. We’re still very productive about learning more, adding drone coverage, time lapse footage, and more current video trends.

Now, we just continue to do good work when we receive recommendations for our services from past wedding clients to friends, family, or even their own special events like birthdays. We continue to be innovative and personally get to know clients to make sure every video we do is exactly what the client wants and more.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Although Lockett Memories Videography has enjoyed tremendous success, it hasn’t always been an easy road. Most of those struggles came from just starting the business and making a name for ourselves. When I did my first wedding, I enjoyed it and the clients loved it but I wasn’t sure where to go from there. I had to get advice from marketing professionals to know how to keep consistent weddings. I also had another problem, that was most of the equipment I was using was rented from my college.

Through much persistence, I was able to get an investor to get all the equipment I needed to do weddings. I was also able to work with vendors and bridal shows to really go to the places brides are. Since then, we’ve had consistent bookings and we’ve worked with many clients who were referred by our past wedding clients.

Lockett Memories Videography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Lockett Memories Videography specializes in wedding videography. We set out to capture every special moment in the perfect way. I’m the lead videographer so I lead my team in coverage areas, the specific shot size and positions they need to be in, and also I make sure we’re all motivated to capture all the best moments.

I’m most proud of my company for the pride we take in our work. I formed a team of videographers who not only have extensive knowledge and experience in videography, but they’re passionate about capturing the perfect moments. I know it may sound cliché, but I’ve been to weddings where the photographer isn’t there and I’m capturing tears of joy, a great moment of laughter, or seeing a dad see her daughter in a wedding dress for the first time. Those moments only come once, and you can’t reenact them will the same delicate emotions. So being there, and having another videographer placed at another location where special moments are happening is our specialty. We don’t take our positions lightly here at Lockett Memories, so if we’re entrusted to capture your most special moments we do every bit of preparation, planning, and execution to be there for every moment.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
A marker for success, I feel, is in doing what you enjoy. The wedding days are long and being passionate about being at a wedding or event makes everything run smoother. I’m constantly seeing how I can make everything I do better. As long as I’m the leader, I know I’m fully in control to make sure our team has the best shots and are capturing the best moments and every moment in between. So that’s all success is to me, making sure clients are happy in every way. If they’re happy, I am because I can keep doing more weddings. I feel it is an honor to take place in a couple’s special day so every time I work, I’m grateful for the opportunity most of all.
