Meet Dahiana Labour of D. Labour Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dahiana Labour.

Hi Dahiana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been in love with culinary arts for as long as I can remember. The idea of starting a business sparked after receiving endless compliments on my daily dinner posts. I was working at a call center at the time and decided to start selling meal preps to my coworkers. I would send out a weekly menu and deliver the order straight to their desk on Monday mornings. From there on, I started catering small events and was able to build a portfolio to promote on social media.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth but I look at every mistake as a learning lesson. I started this business with nothing but a passion. Meaning, I had the eagerness and talent to create but I had no idea what it took to run a legitimate business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I offer event catering, private dining and meal prep services. There is no specific menu or cuisine that I stick to; I specialize in putting smiles on my client’s faces! What sets me aside is that I prioritize making my clients feel like millionaires from the initial email to serving them the best quality with the best presentation. I am most proud of the overall progress I’ve made. As cliche as it may sound, I am simply someone with a passion that turned into profit.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Every Christmas Eve morning, my mother would wake up extra early, cut on her old school tunes and start prepping for a huge dinner. My brother and sister never wanted to help but I was right there cutting, stirring, just anything my mother would let me get my hands on! After everything was prepared, I would make sure the table was the cleanest it’s ever been so I could set it up with everything forks to glasses. My mother always tells everyone that that’s when she knew I had it in me.
