Meet David B. Well and Brotha Ali of Expanded Mind Productions in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to David B. Well and Brotha Ali.

David B. Well and Brotha Ali, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Our story is one of conquering personal struggles, learning to follow our hearts, & learning that anything can be done with the right support behind you. I (BWell) overcame an addiction to heroin & Xanax that came about from social anxiety. I have been healing myself with diet, exercise, & mindfulness practices for 5 years & life is only getting better. Brotha Ali & I actually met serving sentences for LSD. That’s where we began dreaming up a new lifestyle choice in which we are happy, healthy, & not breaking the law.

Ali is a natural salesman & is great at putting designs together & I am so happy to live paint & design clothing with him on this adventure. Our brand is about raising consciousness & relearning what it means to be a gangster. Growing your own food, reading books, & making art is the new gangster. We plan on using this as a marketing platform. Combining cool clothing & accessories with live art & music & we are sure to succeed.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The bumps in our path are many but most were before our business started. Our journey towards our life was a rocky road with arrests & rockstar style ODs but our time for clarity & good living was well overdue & we are happy to manifest a life of abundance in wealth & love that wins over drugs or illegal money any day. Smooth sailing from here on out.

Expanded Mind Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Expanded Mind Productions promotes art, healthy living, & counterculture while breeding conscious thought & opening avenues for the collective to communicate openly. We are a traveling store & make customized limited clothing & accessories as well as vending festival & event merchandise.

We also set an atmosphere up wherever we are & its a place you want to be. We have music, live painting, a gallery, a relaxing area to observe the art & drink coffee while having intelligent conversations & listening to great music. While at a festival getting a custom shirt made while sipping a cup of joe in front of an amazing visionary art experience… Who wouldn’t want to see this?!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career was when I looked up & had Brotha Ali & other friends helping me hang paintings & shirts while we prepared for an event & I just realized I had made it. This is what life is about, creating art & memories with people you love, & making money is the icing. We are truly blessed.
