Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Nash.
Breaking from the mold that was expected of him, with a humble upbringing, music is the only thing that fuels his soul. Determined to live his passion, Devin Nash knew music would become a major part of his life since a young age. Through songwriting, he’s been able to creatively express all of his life experiences: sex, love, hurt, failure and joy. And as a result, his journey has culminated into his raw and emotional debut release, “Her.”
An alternative pop/r&b artist out of Atlanta, described as emotionally charged and relatable, he invites you into his world of heartbreak and despair. Looking to revitalize the pop world with exciting music. Devin is currently working on his follow-up E.P. and he will be releasing new music this summer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I remember being 15 and me and my brother were trying to start a boyband because they were popular back then, but my music teacher at the time would discourage other students from joining us. She would tell them not to work with us because weren’t good enough, which only lit a fire under me even more. I remember being on a bus in Baltimore and my brother saying maybe we should give up, I started balling and was like I’m never giving up, this is who I am.
Being an independent artist, you run into a lot of politics in the music industry. This can make things difficult. Investing in yourself can be a challenge sometimes, but it’s a must do.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m a singer/songwriter, I write songs for up and coming artist. I’ve had my songs placed on MTV, indie movies, etc. What sets me apart from others is me, I have my own unique style of songwriting.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a pretty rambunctious kid, somewhat of a class clown. I was really into sports, I played football and baseball. In high school, I wrestled on the Varsity Team for Mount Saint Joseph. When I was 15, music became my life, I was so inspired by groups like Boyz ii Men, Dru Hill, and Nsync. When I went to college, I got into a variety of types of music, from country to gospel.
