Meet Isabelle Gautier of Isabelle Gautier’s ART in Milton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabelle Gautier.

Isabelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and grew up in Normandy, France.

During my university studies, I met my American husband. A few years later, we moved to Paris where we lived for ten years. During my time there, I had two sons and I continued to study painting at Les Beaux Arts.

From Paris, we moved to Lyon in the south of France where we lived for five years, before arriving in Atlanta where we now have lived for the past twenty years.

My two sons were born in France. We are all dual-national, bi-lingual and bi-cultural, going back and forth many times for family and work. They are both UGA ‘Dawgs” so I am now an empty nester and can devote my time to my art and my professional life.

In 2004, I became an American citizen, but my friends tell me that I still have a strong French accent (not sure that is a compliment.

Since childhood, I have always been painting and doing art related projects. I started selling my artwork fifteen years ago and my passion for painting continues to grow and is now a full-time job.

I also have other interests such as music, poetry, travels and outdoors activities. Nature has always been my best inspiration, colors and patterns dancing in my eye and in my memories. Hiking with my girlfriends in the Smokey Mountains reignites my creative energies and makes me feel alive and strong.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am not sure there is such thing as a smooth road. Each day presents some minor frustrations because life like art is a never-ending search for beauty and harmony.

Honestly, being an artist has its ups and downs, just like any other job. It can at sometimes be very lonely and hard. Sometimes, I seriously lack inspiration and nothing works out. But I enjoy every minute of it.

Each overcome obstacle teaches me a new lesson and makes my work more interesting.

I am trying to grow my business so I face many of the same challenges as other entrepreneurs.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Isabelle Gautier’s ART – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Isabelle Gautier’s ART is a sole proprietor LLC, registered in the state of Georgia.

Over the past fifteen years, I have spent progressively more time on my art and on my business. When I sell a painting, I feel like my work has been appreciated and brought joy to the person who has purchased it.

Moreover, as with any business, I constantly re-invest in my company to do more study travels, buy more canvases, realize more art projects.

I am an expressionist painter, working mostly with polymers. I like to create my own tools which include different materials, brushes, palette knives, plastic cards. I am always mixing polymers and exploring themes.

My favorite subject is nonobjective art, bright vibrant colors or neutral colors on large canvases, but I once in a while I also do landscapes, seascapes or flowers. Right now, I am actually working on a minimalist series. I am very exciting.

My home studio is in my basement where I am very lucky to have a lot of space and great natural light.

Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to work on the City of Milton new Town Hall art project. As for now, that is one of the projects I am the proudest of.

I am also very grateful for having been featured in a HGTV Smart House.

My best channel to market is word of mouth and personal reference. I try to stay active on social media. I am also represented by several fine art galleries around the Southeast.

Business is good. I am growing in my professional career and I hope as a person too.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I like my life and my work, and am lucky that work/life balance is inherent in my daily activities.

In the immediate future I want to concentrate on my two new series, LESS IS MORE  and INTRICATE where minimalistic circles represent inclusion and complicated lines represent the state of our world.

I find minimalism very powerful. Sharing strong messages with simple lines and less colors is captivating.

Painting is a personal path, a highly creative one. I have plenty of new ideas every day.
