Today we’d like to introduce you to J Fitz.
J Fitz, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was cut from the varsity basketball team in high school. I felt broken. I thought I would go to the NBA bro, like every other young black kid. But no, God has something else in store for my journey. After this, I hit a deep depression. I asked God to show me my purpose in this life and He led me to the art room. Months after me fiddling around with a canvas, a pencil, some colors, and some paint, my artwork called “Vanity Slaves” was sent to the High Museum of Art, by my professor, for a student exhibit.
It’s very funny how the universe works sometimes. It’s very funny how you don’t have control of what or whom Loves you.
Through constant moments of not fitting in and not relating towards people, I found my comfort in being alone. Through this solitude, I developed a plan and perspective of who I wanted to be. I wanted more. I didn’t just want to be viewed as cool but also inspiring and transformative. Time spent reading, praying, and scrolling on Tumblr inspired me lol. I studied philosophy and spiritually. I studied the greatest thinkers and artists and was inspired by their unconventionality. I was inspired by those that created their own paradigm of thinking. This is how I became me in this present moment. Not by perfection, but by God’s grace and my constant thirst to be more.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 NLT
This scripture speaks to me because it’s so true lol. Being very intuitive of my spiritual nature and my physical nature, I am constantly battling both worlds. I am constantly in the midst of being in my divine element but also suffering from human limitations.
It has not been a smooth rode! This very moment, I speak to you is not all perfection, but I tell you what…God didn’t put me here to quit. And His grace keeps me going, so I’m thankful for everything I face.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the GodFlow △ story. Tell us more about the business.
GodFlow specializes in healing people. This could be through fashion, architecture, energy therapy, reconstructing male limitations, trauma, and also just providing a beautiful perspective on what life can be.
We believe that life does not have to be a 3Dimensional experience of suffering and limitations. Therefore, through everything we do we strive to inspire and transform the people we encounter.
GodFlow is known for its energy. When people see me around campus, they say, “yo there is a certain flow about you, how do you talk so freely, how did you mix those colours together – for your outfit, your energy is different.” Lol, these are the individuals that have been in contact with the flow.
We are here to show you that faith is sexy.
My current biggest accomplishment is getting more experience in the fashion industry by being an intern for designer, Miguel Wilson.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck really. I believe in blessings, I believe in grace. God’s grace. It has the power to elevate and heal, in the moments when you feel you are least deserving.
