Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Scullin.
Jack, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ben Fraser and I started playing together over a decade ago. We both originally majored in music in college. I majored in classical composition and played double bass in orchestra and jazz combos.
Ben majored in jazz guitar performance. I am currently a digital marketer specializing in content marketing, including SEO and site copy aimed at increasing conversions for businesses. Ben is a full-time music teacher. We formed this duo because we saw a niche in the market.
Most bands are too loud for indoor events and require a full audio engineer to mix the live sound. We provide full audio set up and mix it ourselves, and our music is perfect for indoor events because it does not overpower a room and clients do not have to worry about noise complaints.
We are currently booking gigs for weddings and private events. Also, I am in the process of starting my own digital content marketing company called Scullin Media. I will provide strategies for local businesses to increase conversions and drive engagement.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have both been trying to “make it” with music, but with the decreased value for record sales and money in the business, we were forced to get 9-5 jobs because it is very hard to make a living solely playing music.
Now that we are picking up momentum, we are hoping to make careers out of playing music. Also, I am in a group called Dr. Strangelove out of Atlanta, GA and we self-financed our debut album earlier this year.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Scullin Fraser Duo – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our group specializes in music for private events. We specialize in classic rock, folk songs, and pop songs. We are most proud that we play so well together since we have built a rapport from over a decade of playing together.
We are constantly grinding and what sets us apart is our talent. We both have classical and jazz backgrounds and can play challenging compositions, but our versatility allows us to also play popular songs with very unique twists.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are looking to continue playing around the city and build a following. In the future, we hope to record new video content including funny videos along with live performances.
I will also continue to develop Scullin Media to help businesses and local artists compete in a challenging modern age. I also completed an opera after eight long years called “The Oracle of Osiris.” I hope to get it produced by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra or the Atlanta Opera in 2019.
