Meet Jada Roberts of Nails By Jada in Duluth and Roswell Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Roberts.

Jada, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been a fan of nails ever since I was about 4 or 5 years old. I loved the acrylic smells, all of the polishes, just enjoyment overall of nail salons. So as a child, I would always get my nail press-ons & glue whenever I could get them. The one thing that I did not see much of growing up was nail technicians that looked like me, thus I never imagined having an interest of being a nail tech. So after years investing in others doing my nails, August 2018, I was low on money and wanted my nails done so I decided to consider getting a starter kit to began learning on my own. I started with taking a beginner’s course, watching YouTube tutorials, anything that I could get my hands on to learn as much as possible with what I had as I grew with practice overtime. Just applying what I learned on my practice hand and some hand models, just enjoying creative art from what I taught myself. I’ve had plenty of my friends as my supporters, including one of my top supporters and best friend, Jessica. She knew how much doing nails meant to me, so she created my nail page on Instagram as a birthday gift to me over the summer as well as helped me tremendously with promoting and advertising, being that she has years of experience herself with her graphic work. It’s been an enjoyable experience to create awesomeness on fingers and toes at this time in my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Naturally, you will have challenges in all parts of life, what’s important is how you respond to those challenges. Mine have simply been wanting to get better but feeling like my practicing was not getting anywhere, not having the means to get my products as I wished, since leaving from my last corporate job, not many trusting someone who is a fresh beginner tech thus feeling like it’s not gonna work out, but all in due time is what comes together, you just have to keep at it and surround your mind with the daily affirmation of, “I am gonna excel at this.” thus you will have a circle of people who also cheer you on to excel in all that you set your mind for.

Please tell us about Nails By Jada.
Nails By Jada is a brand name that I have created for myself with my nickname. Jessica is corporate, Jada is not. When it comes to business in general, the last thing you wanna do is create a structure where customers are a number rather than a person. For me, my intention is for my clients to feel like family when they are serviced by me, my space is their space of peace as it is for myself and to give quality work with a feel of joy from the experience of pampering. Granted, time management is everything but rushed work is not tolerated with me so you get a little spoiled when it comes to me (but not too much tho 🙂 ). And overall, my goal is to educate my clients about their nails more, which I believe lacks tremendously when it comes to typical nail salons visits where you are pretty much time from the moment you arrive till the work is done and on to the next person vs from someone who may work solely and will willing let you know how to properly care for your nails and build an actual service rapport to keep the client “in the know” of their nail care. The glitz and glamour of nails is great but if that foundation is not taken care of properly, the rest doesn’t matter.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Mine would have to be my fascination with Florence Joyner, better known as Flo-Jo. In addition to how incredible she was as a track and field athlete, her nail game was incredible!!!! No matter what, that was an accessory that she kept on her and I admired that so much. Definitely some nail inspiration I keep in my mind 🙂
