Meet Jong Lee of Active Care Atlanta in Johns Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jong Lee.

Jong, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a Korean-American male. I came to USA when I was 14 yrs. old. Cultural difference and language barriers were difficult obstacles in my life at that time but Judo was my escape from the stress.

However, I ended up with a shoulder dislocation and had to seek help in order to continue Judo. I met a chiropractor who was a is an Olympic team chiropractor and that changed my course of life. Prior to this event I didn’t even know a word of chiropractic but I fell in love with it when I experienced this amazing healing profession. I decided to become a chiropractor and here I am after 20 years as being an owner of a chiropractic clinic, Active Care of Atlanta.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles became my lessons. While I was in school I found out that chiropractic that I first experienced was not the main stream chiropractic. I wanted to focus my practice in more soft tissue, functional and biomechanical approach since that was my first experience with the chiropractic and that is how I fell in love with it.

I had to seek out extra seminars and workshops outside of school work to full fill this goal. I was pretty successful in classes but my health was going downhill. I did not take care of my health at all while I focused on my grades. I started to gain weight and this became my biggest challenge for many many years. I was always a big person but I reached the point where I was in obese state.

As I started my practice this became an obstacle. As a chiropractor, it was hard for me to promote healthier lifestyle while I was not practicing that lifestyle. After several years passed, I started to have more experience and good number of patient flow I started to realize something that changed my life. I started to focus on older patients who has been taking care of themselves for a long time and the quality of lifestyle they are enjoying compare to who did not do good job of it and suffering. I really wanted to enjoy my life at younger age through my older age. I did not want to suffer good portion of my life at the end. This was the biggest lesson I received from my patients. People who take care of themselves earn better quality of life! Logical but it was enlightening.

I started my journey beginning of 2016 and I lost more than 100 lbs. so far (mid 2017) and this process forced me to study more about nutrition, exercise science and biomechanics. I applied my knowledge to myself and mad improvement in my health and lifestyle. Now I feel like ok am a better chiropractor, better husband, better son and better human enjoying life.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Active Care Atlanta – what should we know?
