Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Searcy.
Jordan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Authentic or Accepted? How do I reveal the true ME? I always had a yearning for pleasing God, to make Him known. But, to what extent? I am compassionate about mankind and have a great desire to demonstrate the humility inside of me. However, I didn’t know in what capacity I could truly service people, my community, etc. In addition, I struggled with understanding my worth in God, so I shied away from trying to live in my own truth. I was worried about how I would be perceived by other people.
I never wanted them to feel as though I was pushing my religious beliefs on them, so I was okay with not speaking about God in social situations to avoid what could have been. Subsequently, certain life experiences happened that required me to lean on God the most. It was through those experiences that not only did my faith in God grow but my confidence in knowing who I was in Him. This is where the concept of my blog, Candid Conversations, was birthed. I decided to use my life experiences to inspire others on their Christian journey.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Life is not a smooth road for any of us. It is full of bumps and bruises. It is not always an easy task to represent God. People will judge you, they will try to condemn you. They take everything you do and put you under a magnifying glass because Christians are supposed to be “perfect.” So sometimes, it seems simpler to sit on the sidelines. But, when God equips you to be used by Him, it is worth the bumps in the road because you know that all things work together for the good of those that have been called according to His purpose.
Please tell us about Candid Conversations. What should we know?
Candid Conversations’ mission is to motivate young adults to have open conversations about their faith in hopes to renew their lifestyle of seeking God. In other words, it encourages this generation to be more candid about their faith. The brand’s values are based on love, growth, compassion, and empowerment. This forum provides different perspectives coming from a wide range of Christians, male and female, that any and everyone would be able to relate to.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very shy, introverted girl. I did not always stand up for myself or express myself in fear of not being able to please others. However, I always had a passion for people and wanting to help others, so I always knew that would be the driving force of my future realities.
