Let’s start with the company story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Orderly helps independent restaurants and chains implement better processes for managing invoices, inventory, and food spend with the least amount of time, effort and expense.
There’s been a massive shift in technology in the last five years. Software and mobile technology have changed our personal lives and our businesses. Technology has shifted from server-based hardware and software, to cloud-based technology, to apps… apps that are easy to use, deployed in minutes, and cost next to nothing.
The restaurant industry has long been underserved by technology. They struggle with manual processes. Invoices are a messy stack of paper and endless data entry. Inventory means spreadsheets, more data entry, and price lookups. And if restaurants have technology, it certainly isn’t easy. The industry is dominated by complex, stationary hardware and software that takes weeks or months to set up and costs tens of thousands of dollars.
Orderly solves these problems with modern technology. The Orderly App is mobile, takes minutes to set up, and its technology everyone’s familiar with.
The Orderly App is helping restaurants put an end to time-consuming tasks, eliminate the massive stack of paper invoices they deal with every week, get rid of the tedious task of managing accounting details, put an end to the pain of taking inventory, and manage their spend and pricing in a way that’s never been available to them before.
Orderly’s mission is simple: Deliver easy-to-use, do-it-for-me apps to restaurants.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like most startups, we’ve pivoted a few times along the way.
Our greatest success was launching our mobile app in November 2015. It completely changed the projection of the company and stimulated the incredible growth we’ve seen since that time.
Please tell us about Orderly.
Since our November 2015 launch, we’ve had 6,000 Orderly app downloads.
Since Orderly started, we’ve processed 698,471 invoices for a total invoice value of $418 million. We’re looking forward to 30,000 app downloads… and 300,000 in the next two years.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We worked hard to get a minimum viable product and improve it exponentially. We’ve hired a team of smart and hard-working people. And we’re solving a problem that no one else is solving for the restaurant industry.
I’m not sure if we could start over that we would trade in any of that.
