Meet Kate Hayes of kate hayes design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Hayes.

Kate, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started in NYC working for an interior designer there and fell in love with it! After working for several years in fashion, I was searching for something else and interior design felt so right. I took classes at the FIT and the New School, honed my skills, and starting slowly working with clients on my own. Haven’t looked back since.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think with independent businesses, there’s always an element of self-doubt. No one is guiding or even correcting you but you, and with that comes a constant edit of oneself; could this be done more efficiently? did I handle that situation correctly? am I pushing myself hard enough but also maintaining a quality of life? nine years in, these are still questions that pop up daily for me.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with kate hayes design – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Kate Hayes Design is a boutique interior design firm born in New York and is now located here in Atlanta. Having come from a stylistic icon that is NYC, I have an edge that I do not think is standard among Atlanta designers.

I like to push my clients to be adventurous, take risks, open their creative minds and live a little. This background definitely has given me the confidence to listen to my own creative voice and be true to it. I also love the more traditional architecture found throughout Atlanta by architects like Reid and Schutze and making those work well in our modern, more casual lives.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Yes! More commercial work – my next goal is to design a chic small boutique hotel in O4W or midtown.
