Meet Kea Nevaeh of K Way Publications & Kea’s Mermaid Cove in Union City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kea Nevaeh.

Kea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I became an author in 2015 and learned the ropes of becoming a publisher. After my first book Fatherless Child was released, the following year, I learned all I could and was able to publish my second book about my life titled Diamond in the Dirt. Since then, my 12-year-old autistic son has written his own books. He has two books now available on Amazon as well. One titled Nothing wrong with being different and the second book just released three days ago titled The Leaning House of Emma. I am a single mom and I’ve been married and divorced twice. Both marriages were full of mental and physical abuse but throughout all of it, I used it as fuel to build myself back up. I’ve had to put a restraining order on the last guy I dated who tried to run me off the road all because I didn’t want to date him anymore. I was able to bounce back from that and just focus on my new passion which is building my own boutique. I’m buying new inventory so I can build my website. It’s called Kea’s Mermaid Cove and right now I have kids clothes on hand and I’m a drop shipper where I resell clothes and shoes from my vendors overseas my drop shipping business is called “The 404 Plug”. I am now acting in a YouTube series called The Dropoff and it has since been picked up by an independent network through Direct TV. I am literally a Jane of All Trades. My journey as a writer started with my singing career but as I got older and went through a lot of the industry disappointments as a female artist in this male-dominated industry, instead of giving up, I felt my voice could still be heard through our pen. I have so many talents and I plan on doing them all. No one can tell me different. I’m a go-getter! A true entrepreneur who loves hard and hustles even harder for my family.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Abusive marriage, drug usage, asthma attacks and gaining weight from having to take steroids and not being able to be the look the industry wanted as an artist. My son having aspergers which is a form of autism and him being bullied because of it. My son wanting to commit suicide because kids were being cruel. Looking for love in all the wrong places, attracting opportunists. I also survived a narcissist.

Please tell us about K Way Publications & Kea’s Mermaid Cove.
Kea’s Mermaid Cove has everything. I’m a dropshipper so I can get my hands on just about anything. I have access to many vendors who I purchase wholesale from. Clothes, shoes, designer bags, eyelashes, hair, etc. and I’m a book publisher with my son as my business partner. It’s called K Way Publications. We both have 2 books out that are available on Amazon. My own name is Kea Nevaeh and his own name is Kuaran the Great. I’m proud of K Way because it’s me and my son together writing books and soon stageplays. Seeing him sell out of his books at book signings is an amazing feeling. What sets us apart from others is our quality and ideas. We have the best imagination. I grew up as an only child and he is my only child so together we put our heads together and create the most beautiful stories.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Singing and recording my first songs at 12 years old called It’s a Party and Get on the bus. Being known at school for my vocals.
