Meet Kim Jones and Vania Stoyanova of YATL Live Show in Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Jones and Vania Stoyanova.

Kim and Vania, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Kimberly and I met at an event for a young adult author, we can’t even remember now. She was a book seller and manager at a local children’s book store and I was a content creator for publishers and authors. We “fell in love” over books and shenanigans. Over the years, we did author panels together, traveled, wrote books and got to share our love of literature with our friends when we started our book club. One thing led to another and after hosting a few fun games of YA Truth or Dare on the Decatur Book Festival stage, we decide to spread our wings and do what we love every month!

Has it been a smooth road?
We’ve had great support from GA Center for the Book and local readers, publishers and authors here and all over the US.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We run a monthly live show for young adult authors and readers. Think Jimmy Fallon but for YA readers. We interview authors, we play games, we embarrass them and there’s enough shenanigans to make you laugh for days. We have giveaways, publishers sponsors and opportunities for readers to meet their favorite authors and meet new ones.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We are excited to see that kidlit is paving the way for great opportunities and discussions. From great organisations like We Need Diverse Books to Marie Marquardt’s Read for Change partnership with School Library Journal we’re excited to see that kidlit and YA are making waves for change which is what teens need right now.
