Today we’d like to introduce you to Krispin Watson.
Krispin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in a small town in Mississippi, I always had dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. Out of college, in 2013, I gave birth to my daughter. I started several businesses and still worked a full-time job while juggling the stress of being a single mom. In 2014, I opened an online boutique, Category 919, that is scheduled to relaunch in 2020 with a new look and style. In 2015, I landed a job as a freelance makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics and opened 919 Glam which provides makeup artistry, hands on classes and makeup services for individuals, and bridal parties.
After getting married in 2017, I became pregnant, struggled with an ongoing divorce, and gave birth to my son, Grant, in 2018. Everything I endured in life motivated me to push myself to new levels and encouraged me to find purpose in helping others by sharing different journeys from guests of various entrepreneurial and background through a podcast and speaking events.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many of my struggles stemmed from unexpected life circumstances. I had my daughter two months after my college graduation. Thankfully, I had a really great support system to help me along the way.
I moved to another state for a job opportunity a year and a half after having her. When she moved in with me, one of the daily challenges was managing to work full time, running an online store, and taking care of a toddler day in and day out – and all of my fellow parents can agree that a kid alone is another full-time job in itself.
Years later, I get married and endured an ongoing, distasteful divorce, that eventually resulted in the birth of my son. So now, one of my struggles or challenges as I would call it is being a single mom of two while also working, running a podcast, and other services provided by myself and my brand.
Time to balance it all is the real struggle, but I’ve learned that with every hardship comes a lesson or a blessing so either way, you are always on the winning side of the table.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about So Lux Life – what should we know?
So Lux Life is a professional service that hosts a weekly podcast to enhance the mental, physical, and spiritual luxuries in one’s life, brand, and business.
With a quickly growing audience, I try to book guests that have a unique journey and a message or story that could encourage those ready to get to the next level in life and business.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that my authenticity and transparency is most important to my success. I’ve made connections with some of the most amazing people just by being myself and not being afraid to share my story.
I have always been a firm believer that people will buy into you as a person before they buy into whatever it is that you are selling. Because of this belief, I try to make sure that I am being as authentic and transparent at all times so that others can gravitate towards me and connect with my spirit and my business.
