Today we’d like to introduce you to Lateisha Zondo Turner.
Lateisha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my business about 2 years ago. I have always been the one everyone came to if they wanted something decorated. In 1996, I sat and watched a lady put together my first baby shower by hand. She was very creative and I had the need to learn her craft. As time went on, I started with my own crafts by volunteering my services to friends and families. I did decorations for baby and bridal showers. Once I found my natural flow, I decided to include party favors and props to my list of handmade crafts. It was like second to breathing to me. I loved what I discovered within myself that I decided to further my knowledge of decorating and planning to a higher level. I took an online course to become a certified wedding/event planner. Before completion of my certification, I had the pleasure of showing many my new found skill. My first wedding happened to be my own. A 1920’s Great Gatsby wedding theme. Those that attended were amazed at the detail and atmosphere. It felt like Leonardo DiCaprio himself was attending. Since that day, planning custom and themed events became my specialty. My centerpieces and decor are made by hand by yours truly. Today, I’m an owner and CEO of my very own event planning services.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely was not a smooth road. I had many obstacles to conquer. It was hard juggling family as a wife and mother of 6. I had to make time for both. Another problem I faced was lack of clientele. That was a bit discouraging. I thought I would never get anyone to find me and my services. I wanted to stray away from friends and family, so others could see what I could do. It didn’t happen overnight but once the word got out, I started to receive requests to do paid events. I’m still in the beginning phases but I’m rapidly climbing that ladder to success.

Zondo Xclusiv Events is one of my many greatest accomplishments. We are Ann event planning company. We do everything from creating a budget for the client to decorating.
ZXE specializes in custom and themed events. Every event is made “xclusiv” for each client, no 2 events are the same. We pride ourselves on recreating the vision that our client has and bringing it to life. What sets us apart from everyone ese? ZXE takes the time to listen to detail of every client because we know everyone wants a fairytale “Ever After”. Affordability is also a major factor. Without complete satisfaction of the client, your goal hasn’t been reached.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future will be to grow my business and to ultimately have my own event facility to accommodate every type of event.
