Meet Lauren Boyd of Lauren Boyd Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Boyd.

Lauren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As long as I can remember, I have either had a camera in hand or had access to one.

Going through rolls and rolls of film when I was little, waiting for them to be developed to see what I caught was always so exciting! When my family and I moved to Atlanta in 2012 from Myrtle Beach, SC, we decided I would give my small business a chance at being full time. After about 3 months, I booked my first few clients, and to this day, I still have those sweet families with me. Word of mouth has been a wonderful thing for my business and building my clientele.

In the beginning, I shot everything, as I think a lot of photographers do. I quickly realized that I loved working with children and I really loved newborns. About 3 years ago, I decided I wanted to start moving more towards working mainly with Newborns, Children, and Families.

It is such an amazing experience to be able to watch my clients grow up before my lens, and having so many of those clients turn in to such great friends. Being the one my clients trust to catch the very first smiles on camera, to watching those littles learn to walk and talk really warms my heart.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like I have been really lucky in my journey as a photographer. When we moved to Atlanta in March of 2012, we didn’t know anyone other than my brother in law. By the end of 2012, I was voted My Forsyth Favorites Best Photographer! That will always be one of my most exciting moments to look back on knowing that I was the “new girl” in town, and voted the favorite in my category by my clients.

That doesn’t go to say that there haven’t been struggles. I think there are always hard times with opening and figuring out how to run a successful business. I just like to look at the positive and know that my success and the bright spots of my career much outweigh the tough times.

Please tell us about Lauren Boyd Photography.
My business, Lauren Boyd Photography, LLC specializes in Newborns, Children and Family photography. I feel I am most known for my clean, organic style with newborns, keeping the focus on baby throughout the session. I don’t tend to use a lot of props, and neutral/muted tones are my absolute favorite!

LBP has been nationally published multiple times and has won numerous different awards, including being named in the best Newborn Photographers in Atlanta, My Forsyth Favorites and Best of Forsyth Best Photographer for three years.

I am a people person, I don’t meet a stranger. I think when you take the time to get to know your clients, and I mean really get to know them, the photos look so much more natural. People feel much more comfortable with friends. It sounds cliche, but when you are an LBP client, you are like family. I genuinely love and care about my clients and want them to have the best experience during every session with me.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memories would probably be all of the trips I was able to take with my Grandmother. Starting when I was 5 years old, she would take me somewhere each Summer. The first trip was to Disney World, and just like any little girl, I fell in LOVE!

After that, we visited Disney again a few years later, but we also went to Dolly Wood in Tennessee, and Maryland a couple of times to visit my Aunt and Uncle. It is always fun to think back on the adventures we had and the memories we made.
