Today we’d like to introduce you to Maike Rizvi.
Maike, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I always had a passion for baking, I grew up in Germany and learned many of my baking skills from my grandmother and mother. I try to use some of the elements of more European traditional recipes and evolve them into new flavors reflecting the eclectic nature of our clients.
My background is in food science and nutrition and dedicated a lot of time into offering gluten free and vegan cupcake options to our customers with special dietary needs in addition to the traditional cupcake flavors.
Jilly’s was founded in 2010 and me and my husband purchased Jilly’s in May 2014.
Our local, family owned business is committed to using the freshest, highest quality ingredients to create our delicious cupcakes. Our professional, friendly and highly trained staff will happily answer your questions, take your order and deliver your cupcakes to you with a smile!
Our cupcakes are baked fresh daily and available in over ten flavors with three daily special flavors and seasonal flavors each month. Customer favorites include our salted caramel, birthday cake, chocolate chip cookie dough and red velvet. Some of these flavors are also available in gluten free and vegan cupcakes and are equally delicious!
We have kept all of the customer favorites but have tweaked a few of the recipes to make then even more delicious. Customer feedback over the last few months has been phenomenal! We expanded into offering daily cake pops, chocolate dipped pretzel rods and spoons, hand decorated sugar cookies -regular and gluten free and individual cheesecakes. We are excited to be able to do custom tiered cakes with buttercream or fondant and able to match cupcakes cake pops or cookies to match the theme for weddings, showers and birthdays.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No not at all, we opened two locations in the mall but closed them a few months ago as our customer oriented/engaged ways were not really working in a mall environment. We want our customers to have great experience by taking time in creating their special order and even make Jilly’s a “destination” with depending on location with a cup of coffee and or ice cream with your cupcake.
Finding the great staff we have right now who enjoy Jilly’s as much as we do was not easy to find but make the visit to Jilly’s so special.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jilly’s Cupcakery story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in fresh cupcakes and everything around it. We have our daily offerings and specializing to match the flavors as much as possible in gluten free and gluten free vegan or vegan fresh baked versions that you don’t even realize it is a special cupcake. We are proud to match cakes and cupcakes, cake pops and cookies to create a complete dessert table if a customer wants. Show us what you are looking for and we will help you to make it a reality.
