Meet Mark A. Wingo of New Beginning Financial Group in Cumberland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark A. Wingo.

Mark, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
New Beginning Financial Group, LLC (NBFG) is an insurance and financial services, tax advisory, and commercial financing company. NBFG was originally founded in 2006 as a mortgage company by Mark A. Wingo in St. Paul, MN. In 2009, after the mortgage crisis, Mr. Wingo decided to get his insurance licences to add financial planning to help families better manage and grow their finances through life insurance and fixed index annuities. That’s when Wingonomics came about, a proprietary financial planning concept that highlights 7 Principles of Money, which was created from Mr. Wingo’s personal financial struggles of unemployment, foreclosure, three payday loans, overdrawn bank accounts and over $50,000 of credit card debt.

Then, in 2012, after brainstorming strategies to grow New Beginning Financial Group, LLC, Mr. Wingo incorporated personal and small business tax preparation to grow the insurance practice; that eventually expanded into offering bookkeeping, accounting and payroll services. After years of growth, in 2017, New Beginning Financial Group, LLC went back to origins and started a commercial mortgage brokerage. The next phase will become an investment advisory to help our clients diversify their financial portfolio.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing close to a smooth road. My journey was a roller coaster. I started my financial career in the banking industry with TCF Bank before beginning my career as a mortgage broker, and launching my own mortgage business in 2006., Little did I know the mortgage market and the economy would collapse forcing me back to corporate America and I would have to put my entrepreneurship endeavors on hold. I eventually landed a position with Ameriprise Financial as a Financial Advisor but that was only for a few months because my financial situation was so stressful I couldn’t focus on studying to pass the series 7 and 63 to continue my career. Thankfully, I was fortunate to land a position at US Bank as a financial sales representative until I was eventually laid off in February of 2009.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with New Beginning Financial Group – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

    Hello Mark,

Just a little note to say I am very happy that you, Rickelle and family are doing well. I recall telling you years ago when you and I had breakfast together at the Pancake House in Minneapolis, that you had hit a homerun when you married Rickelle. You certainly made a good move by relocating to the Atlanta area. I am doing great as I write this message to you. My son Jesse Jr. and I recently built and sold our 3rd house, and is currently doing a major renovation of a house in Edina, out first suburban project. We also experience some difficulties during the 2007-08 real estate bubble, we weather the storm by liquidating our properties, and started renovating and selling houses. At this time, we are concentrating mostly on new construction. Be blessed by the Best, my friend.
